She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 552

Booking a bustling music bar served a dual purpose: it was a great spot to treat her team, and the crowded, chaotic environment was perfect for exchanging classified information without drawing unwanted attention.

The newly opened venue was packed with the city's young elite looking to let loose.

Sybil Seabrook, completely abandoned by her mother and stripped of her reputation, had seen her dreams of marrying into high society go up in smoke.

Spiraling and desperate, she had spent the last few weeks bouncing from one club to another, drowning her misery in alcohol.

When Thane Crown heard about her downfall, his heart ached for her. Eager to cheer her up, he invited her out for drinks.

Sybil still looked down on Thane—he was too young, too naive, and lacked the polished charm of a seasoned billionaire—but the moment he mentioned that a wealthy heir from the Langley family would be joining them, she saw a glimmer of hope and agreed to come.

She spent hours perfecting her makeup and outfit. Yet, the moment she stepped onto the dim, pulsing floor of the bar, she collided hard with a man carrying two drinks.

The collision sent one of the cocktails splashing all over her designer dress. Already on edge, she immediately lashed out. "Watch where you're going! Are you blind?!"

Linden Langley steadied himself. Glancing at his sticky hands, he looked at her with an expression of pure apathy. "You bumped into me."

His calm, flat delivery only fueled her rage. Feeling the eyes of the surrounding crowd on her, her wounded ego flared. The alcohol in her system and weeks of repressed humiliation obliterated whatever rationality she had left.

"I bumped into you? Who the hell do you think you are? You're not even worth my time!" she shrieked, raising her hand to smack the remaining drink out of his grip.

Linden side-stepped with lightning reflexes, spilling only a few drops.

His effortless dodge drove her completely over the edge.

"You dare dodge me?! You think you're better than me?!" Completely losing her mind, she raised her hand and aimed a vicious slap right at his face.

A few gasps rippled through the onlookers.

But before her hand could connect, a slender, iron-tight grip clamped around her wrist, stopping it mere inches from his cheek.

Stunned, Sybil whipped her head around, meeting a pair of cool, unbothered eyes.

Loyce stood there, her grip immovable. Her voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable, crushing authority. "You're in public. Pull yourself together."
