She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 553

"Thane," Linden stepped in front of Loyce. "My family is doing business with Ms. Lonsdale, and I consider her a friend. I strongly suggest you use your brain before you do something stupid."

Caught in the middle, Sybil panicked, realizing she needed to salvage the situation. She tugged on Thane's sleeve, whispering, "It's so dark in here, I just misunderstood Mr. Langley. And I really can't afford to get on Loyce's bad side right now. Let's just drop it. It's my fault."

Thane felt a painful mix of pity and frustration. He had idolized Sybil for years, and that deep-rooted infatuation blinded him to her true nature. Shielding her with his body, he guided her toward their VIP area, tossing a look back at Linden. "It was just a misunderstanding. I'll have fresh drinks sent over. Let's head to the booth."

As she let Thane lead her away, Sybil caught a glimpse of Loyce handing Linden a business card. They exchanged a few quiet words, and a toxic wave of jealousy roiled in Sybil's gut.

That bitch already had Lucian Shapiro wrapped around her finger! Wasn't that enough? Now she was sinking her claws into Linden, too?

When Loyce handed the card over, she simply said, "If you experience any physical discomfort, come see me at Blossom Hospital."

She could tell Linden was suffering from an underlying medical issue. His complexion was far too pale, and his seemingly calm gaze masked a deep, volatile instability. His current composure was the result of intense, deliberate control.

Linden took the card, his desire to return to his friend's booth completely gone. "I have zero interest in entertaining the idiot Thane is so obsessed with. I'll leave them to it. Care to buy me a drink?"

"You're welcome to hang out with my team," Loyce offered. "I have a friend to meet first."

"Sounds good," Linden agreed.

Back at the booth, Sybil was growing restless. Even with Thane showering her with attention, she kept glancing at the empty seat.

"Isn't Mr. Langley joining us?" she asked, her voice trembling perfectly. "I really want to apologize to him properly for my behavior."

Tears welled up in her eyes. "I've just been so stressed lately, my nerves are shot."

"I know, I know," Thane cooed, pulling her into a tight hug. "Loyce set you up. She wanted to steal your spotlight and ruin your life."

Blinking through her tears, she took a large gulp of her drink. "Please ask Mr. Langley to come over. I need to make things right."

Unable to say no to her, Thane immediately sent a waiter to fetch his friend. A few minutes later, the waiter returned, looking incredibly awkward. "Mr. Langley said he isn't feeling well and prefers not to be disturbed. He's currently having a great time chatting with Ms. Lonsdale."

Linden had only shown up tonight to give Thane an excuse to ask Sybil out; he was basically playing wingman.

But Sybil's twisted mind couldn't accept that. Hearing that Loyce had successfully lured away the billionaire heir, a dark, venomous rage consumed her.

She suddenly grabbed Thane's hand, gripping it tight. "Will you help me?"
