She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 563

Sybil immediately put on her softest, most tender voice. "Come over to my place. I have a spare room."

Thane's face lit up with overwhelming gratitude. "I knew it. I knew you were the only one who truly cared about me, Sybil."

...

Across town, Loyce received a text from Lucian. The plan to expose Thane and Sybil's true colors was already in motion. Tucking her phone away, she stepped out of her car and stood before the elegant garden at Élégance.

The butler stood by the grand entrance, bowing respectfully. "Ms. Lonsdale. Ms. Pierce is waiting for you in the parlor."

Loyce was here on a house call, requested to examine Corinne Pierce's bedridden grandmother.

As she walked through the halls, her sharp eyes discreetly took in the surroundings. Corinne's father, Coleman Pierce, was the director of the Investigation Bureau. Given their family's deep roots in government, the interior design was understated and classic, seemingly devoid of any overtly lavish or scandalous displays of wealth.

The weather had turned bitterly cold. Corinne was curled up on the sofa, cradling a cat, her legs covered by a thick, heavy blanket.

Seeing Loyce enter, Corinne set the blanket aside and stood up with a warm smile. "The temperature really dropped out there today. I hope you didn't freeze on the way over, Ms. Lonsdale."

Loyce shook her head, her gaze sweeping over the blanket left on the couch. "That's a beautiful throw."

"Oh, this?" Corinne laughed softly. "I bought it from a master artisan. It's entirely hand-knitted from yarn. It has a very unique texture."

Loyce smiled thinly. "Indeed. It looks exceptionally expensive."

"Just a little trinket, really. How expensive can yarn get? You're mostly paying for the labor."

Corinne instructed a maid to take the blanket away and led Loyce down the hall toward the bedroom. "My grandmother has been bedridden for years," she explained. "Half her body is paralyzed, and she can't speak. I was hoping you could take a look and see if there's any hope left for a cure."

Loyce had brought her own medical kit and portable diagnostic equipment, but the Pierce estate already had a fully functioning medical room equipped with the elderly woman's daily health reports.

Loyce started by performing a physical examination on the frail woman, whose only movement was the subtle darting of her eyes. She checked her pulse and then thumbed through the most recent stack of medical data.
