"Macrostar is supposed to be the legacy her parents left her. It's only natural she wants it back. Furthermore, look at her current status—she's not just 'SaintHealer', she's the heiress to the wealthiest family in the country, and she has deep ties to the head of the Shapiro Group. Any one of those titles alone is enough to utterly crush us."
Byron lowered his voice. "Besides, we've made enough mistakes. When has Loyce ever been wrong? Time and time again, her actions have proven she's always ten steps ahead."
The family fell into a heavy silence.
Adele bit her lip. "I just want her to come back and be my daughter again."
Hamilton was quiet for a long time before murmuring, "Me too."
...
Crown Dining.
Edgar was hosting a private dinner for Horace Fremont, bringing only his wife and daughter along.
Sybil had been practically dragged to the restaurant entrance, violently refusing to go inside. Alicia could only scowl and yank her arm. "Listen to me! This concerns the survival of our entire family. I handed you countless opportunities to secure a billionaire, and you ruined every single one. I am not letting you call the shots this time."
Sybil struggled wildly, desperately trying to explain. "Mom! I already told you! I'm secretly engaged to Carl! He's coming to pick me up any day now! He's a world-renowned plastic surgeon, his net worth makes that creepy old man look like a joke!"
"You've been saying that for days! Where is he? Have you resorted to just making up lies now?" Alicia didn't believe a word of it. As they were wrestling near the door, Loyce's car pulled up to the entrance.
Loyce was just there for dinner, but the sharp-eyed Sybil immediately spotted her and screamed, "Loyce! Loyce, you have to help me! You saw us on the yacht, right?! Carl! The billionaire, he confirmed we're together! I'm begging you, please just tell my mom the truth!"
Loyce couldn't be bothered and kept walking. Sybil lunged forward, grabbing the hem of Loyce's coat. "Loyce! If you just explain it to them, once I move out of the country and become a billionaire's wife, we can bury the hatchet! If your family ever goes bankrupt, I'll even help you out..."
Hearing the sheer delusion, Loyce let out a harsh laugh. She stopped and looked down at Sybil. "You really are rotten to the absolute core."
Sybil froze, then scowled defensively. "Loyce! You might be riding high now and looking down on me, but you might need my help one day! Don't burn all your bridges!"
Loyce's towering bodyguards immediately swatted Sybil's hand away, shielding the elegant heiress as she walked smoothly into the restaurant.
Alicia felt the stares of a dozen onlookers outside, including some of her former high-society friends. Mortified, she hissed a vicious warning: "How much more of a scene do you want to make? Don't make me slap you in front of everyone!"
