Hank, as it turned out, could be incredibly obsessive.
"Whatever, I'll just head out on my own," Loyce decided. She didn't really need to buy anything; the casual clothes she had changed into on the yacht were perfectly fine.
She figured she could take the recommendation letter straight to Hank's lab and meet the research team.
When the guards realized she was leaving, they immediately scrambled to provide two security details and a driver to escort her.
The lab was located in a sleek, highly modernized office building.
Loyce had her men wait outside and walked in alone. Following the standard procedure, she took the elevator to the lab's reception area and handed her letter to the front desk.
"I'm Loyce, a student recommended by Professor Bonick from Cologne University."
The receptionist checked her ID and smiled politely. "Please wait a moment. The research team is in a meeting right now. It might take about half an hour."
"Alright," Loyce said. "I'll take a look around."
The receptionist's smile remained fixed. "It's best if you wait here. The other areas require keycard access."
Loyce raised an eyebrow. "Fine."
She sat on the sofa and didn't waste any time. Pulling out her laptop, she opened the recovered files Storm had sent over. A moment later, she frowned.
Storm had messaged her explaining that the micro-SD card had been pierced by a bullet, and another was heavily damaged. They couldn't salvage all the footage. Fortunately, they managed to retrieve the evidence most crucial for Harmony Country's counterattack.
It perfectly captured the moment Lucian was trampled in the mud by the enemy soldiers and the exact second they shot his leg.
It was his most vulnerable, bloodiest moment—the one he probably never wanted the world to see.
Loyce's expression darkened.
