“How about I take you out for dinner tonight?” Isabelle offered.

The immediate softening in Damian’s expression let Isabelle relax–he’d been close to slipping back into one of his quiet, brooding moods again.

“Then I’ll leave the arrangements to my wife,” Damian said, a slight smile touching his lips.

Isabelle lowered her head to finish her breakfast, quickly typing a message to Brian.

“Pick up Diana from the airport at 2 p.m. I reserved a private room at Privé Table–just give them my name.”

Brian’s reply came instantly. “Well, well… look who’s finally acting like a decent human being.”

“Keep it up and I’ll have your tongue cut out.”

Isabelle realized her tone was starting to sound more and more like Damian’s–he’d once said the exact same thing to Brian.

“Thanks, boss.”

Damian watched her smiling at her phone. “What’s so amusing?”

“Nothing,” she said, setting her phone down and taking a sip of her orange juice. “I’m free from noon until late afternoon.”

Damian finished the last bite of his omelette. “And?”

Isabelle pressed her lips together. He’d seemed off earlier, but now that she’d cleared her schedule, why did he still sound unimpressed?

“I’ll… follow your lead,” she finally said.

“Good.” Damian’s smile returned.

She had no idea what he was planning–he didn’t give any clues about what came next.

Damian dropped her off at Beatrice’s estate–the same place where last night’s party had been held.

“Text me when you’re about to wrap up,” he said, holding her hand and gently rubbing his thumb over her knuckles for a long moment.

He didn’t like the idea of Isabelle running around while pregnant, but this was something she truly loved doing.

“Okay.” Isabelle nodded.

Damian unbuckled her seatbelt and pulled her into a hug, reluctant to let go.

“If anything comes up, you have to tell me,” he repeated, just to be sure.
