The style of the home was completely different from their previous one—the penthouse had felt more modern and cooler in tone, while this space was vibrant and futt of color.
It featured a cheerful, relaxed aesthetic with a palette of creams, soft yellows, and sage greens.
Exactly the kind of decor Isabelle loved.
The entire second floor was dedicated as a library and study, while the primary suite took up the third floor.
Damian led her into the private elevator.
“Do you like it?”
“I really do.”
Damian nodded. “We talked about having our wedding portraits taken a while back but never scheduled it. If we wait much longer, you might not feel up to it. If you’re free, we could go tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?” Isabelle was surprised. It did feel a little sudden.
“Yes, tomorrow, if your schedule allows.”
If they waited any longer, her bump would begin to show, and the portraits wouldn’t have the same effect. She probably wouldn’t even want to pose for them then.
Besides, she’d likely be more tired later on.
“Alright,” Isabelle agreed.
Just as they stepped out of the elevator, Damian’s phone rang.
“Why don’t you look around on your own for a few minutes?” Damian glanced at the screen.
“Okay.” Isabelle didn’t want to interrupt his work.
He’d already taken several days off to be with her. Barry was handling whatever could be managed, so if a fall was coming through now, it was probably important.
Damian walked through the living area and stepped out onto the wide terrace to take the call.
Isabelle ventured into the primary bedroom and began exploring.
The room was decorated in warrn, neutral tones–even the bedding was her favorite shade of soft ivory. The linen duvet felt luxurious and comfortable under her touch.
Isabelle couldn’t resist climbing onto the bed and giving a happy little roll.
She was already falling in love with this place.
She closed her eyes contentedly, savoring the quiet moment.

After a while, Damian still hadn’t returned. His phone kept ringing, one call after another.

Isabelle slowly sat up and noticed a large, opened storage box nearby. A few items had been unpacked and arranged, but it looked like several things remained inside.
She walked over.
Inside, she found it was filled with Damian’s old photographs.
An entire box of them.
“Wow…”
She couldn’t help but murmur in surprise. She had never really looked into his past. Aside from their time together overseas, she realized she knew almost nothing about Damian’s earlier years.
She settled onto a nearby armchair and pulled out a photo that looked oddly familiar.
In the picture, a man dressed all in black was holding a woman bundled in white ski gear, both of them dusted with snow.
It didn’t look posed–more like a spontaneous snapshot.
The photo was taken in Salinas,
Isabelle remembered that trip.
It suddenly dawned on her–the person being held in this photo was probably her!
She brought the photo closer and studied it carefully, her fingers tracing the image. Then she turned it over and saw familiar handwriting on the back–Damian’s.
“Finally held the sweetheart Mom kept talking about.”
Isabelle’s cheeks flushed, her heart beating wildly.
Oh my-
When had Damian ever been this corny, calling her his sweetheart?
Did he even know who he was holding back then?
Could he have mistaken her for someone else?
Isabelle clearly remembered that winter when she had gone skiing in Salinas with Diana, April, and Violet.
Isabelle had picked it up quickly. An instructor had shown her the basics at first, but she soon got the hang of it and started skiing
on her own.
But she was young and overconfident, going too fast to stop, and ended up racing straight down an advanced slope.
A scream tore from her throat.
Skiers nearby scrambled to get out of her path, but a tall man who had paused to rest further down couldn’t move out of the way in time. She crashed right into him.

The man ended up cushioning her fall. Even now, she vaguely remembered his clear, lively eyes.
Only his eyes were visible the rest of his face was wrapped tightly in a neck gaiter.
