Chapter 376 The Unspoken Injury
“What would it take for you to call it off?”
“It’s not happening. Only if I die.”
Lynn started mentally calculating when she could slip him some poison–arsenic might work, or maybe even a strong pestic
“You’re impossible,” she muttered under her breath.
When Lynn followed him to his home, a housekeeper was already waiting in the foyer.
“Mr. Moore, the guest room upstairs is ready. Everything has been prepared,” the housekeeper said with a kind smile, glancing at Lynn, who was buried in his arms, too embarrassed to show her face.
Lucas had carried her straight from the car without a word, treating Lynn like a lamb being led to its pen.
“Mhm.” Lucas stepped into the elevator and carried her into the guest room.
The Housekeeper waited outside the door, not daring to enter.
After setting Lynn down in the bathroom, Lucas stood back, studying her as if he had X–ray vision, able to see right through he
clothes.
Lynn crossed her arms over her chest, watching him warily.
“Don’t try to run. If you do, I’ll have my way with you tonight.” Lucas/pinched her cheek lightly.
“You’re insane!” Lynn’s face flushed bright red instantly.
Lucas scoffed, then walked out, instructing the housekeeper to help her bathe and change.
Alone in the bathroom, Lynn felt shaken, her cheeks burning with a heat that left her utterly flustered.
Where had things gone so wrong that Lucas was acting like this?
Lucas returned to the master suite, sinking into the bathtub. As he soaked, he called Damian.
Damian was having dinner with Isabelle at a restaurant. Seeing Lucas‘ call, he excused himself to–isabelle and stepped
answer.
“Go ahead.” Damian’s voice was clipped.
“Gordon says we can’t delay much longer.”

Damian’s leg had been injured during a mission, saving his team. He’d paid a heavy price for their survival.
Everyone close to him knew how much he had valued his service.
Being medically discharged had been another profound loss.
Damian’s silence made Lucas smile. Bringing up his wife still worked like a charm.
“It’s settled, then.” Lucas hung up before Damian could respond.
Damian put away his phone, standing outside lost in thought for a long moment.
Just then, a soft hand slipped into his palm. He gripped it immediately, turning to see the wofnan who had followed him out.
“What’s wrong?” Isabelle asked.
“Nothing,” Damian replied with a slight smile.
“Let’s go back in and finish dinner.”
Damian had eaten very little that day.
“Alright.”
After dinner, Isabelle went upstairs to shower.
Damian made a few more calls downstairs. When he went up, he found Isabelle packing a suitcase for him.
“You shouldn’t be doing that. Let me handle it.” Damian hurried over, guiding her to sit on the sofa.
“You always pack for me. Today, it’s my turn.”
Isabelle finished speaking, but when Damian didn’t respond, she knew he really was leaving that night.
“You already figured it out?” Damian asked softly.
“Seeing you so distracted, it must be urgent. Don’t worry about things here.” Isabelle placed his large hand over hes abdomen can take care of myself.”
Damian looked down, then wrapped an arm around her shoulders, resting his chin on the top of her head as he gently caressed stomach.
“I don’t want to be apart from you for even a moment now,” Damian said.
Isabelle had already sensed it, but hearing it from him was different.
It made her ears tingle and her heart flutter.
“Can I come with you?” She couldn’t help but ask.
“No.”
Damian’s refusal was firm.
