"I'm on the top floor," Diana said with a faint smile.
Aurora's expression instantly froze. The floors above the twenty-fifth were all large, single-elevator units—the kind wealthy people lived in.
Initially, she had wanted one of those, but for some reason, they had only shown her smaller units.
"I'm perfectly happy that Dami paid for an over three-million-dollar house in full for me," she said, a smug tug at her lips.
"Three million?" Diana was shocked. Her gaze shifted from Aurora to Brian, who acted as if he hadn't heard, casually wandering around.
Returning to the top floor from the 18th floor, Diana sat amidst a pile of disorganized furniture and confronted Brian. "Did someone die in this apartment?"
"Nothing like that," Brian replied with a grin.
"Or is this place... shady?"
"Relax, it's a legitimate property."
Diana said sarcastically, "Downstairs is over three million dollars. My three-thousand-square-foot place is just over two million dollars. Your relative must be very close. I'll have to treat him to a proper meal sometime."
"Just a casual acquaintance, really..." Brian sounded a bit evasive.
Diana looked at him with a half-smile and said, "A casual acquaintance? That's a pretty deep 'casual' you've got there!"
Brian didn't know how to reply, so he just laughed awkwardly.
No matter how much Diana pressed, Brian wouldn't say a word, so she finally dropped it, deciding to just count herself lucky.
However, after Brian left, she hired a professional team to sweep the entire apartment for hidden cameras or bugs, half-convinced Brian might be some kind of creep.

At the hospital, Damian spotted Isabelle instantly. She was slumped in a chair in the emergency waiting area, hooked up to an IV, an unfamiliar man's coat draped over her.
He quickened his pace. Just then, Collin walked out from the side, holding a cup of water.
He carefully adjusted Isabelle's head onto his shoulder, gently called her name, and helped her take her medicine.
Weak, it took her two tries to swallow a few pills. She swallowed against the bitter taste in her throat, and from the corner of her eye, she saw a familiar figure approaching.
Collin's gaze followed hers. The man was tall and imposing, with a short, almost roguish haircut. The eyes behind his glasses were an intimidating gray.
Damian met Collin's gaze. In contrast, Collin's expression was relaxed, showing no sign of aggression, as if it didn't bother him at all.
She tried to sit up straighter, feeling utterly drained, watching as Damian drew nearer. Is he angry? Or am I imagining it?
Isabelle said, "Damian?"
He was taken aback, a chill prickling in his chest. Mr. Cross? She's pulling out the formal title now.
