The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 113

The partnership between Lance and Harrison was hanging by a thread.

Catherine honestly wasn’t too worried about whether they’d work things out. But as long as the drama was still swirling, there was no way for her to stay out of it.

She skimmed through the news, pausing when she spotted the phrase “according to an inside source.” That was all the proof she needed. Someone from SilverLeaf Industries had been leaking information.

With a sigh, she closed the news tab and opened Gavin’s social media page. Her fingers flew over the keyboard.

[Was that news story your doing?]

Gavin: [He tried to steal my project. What did you expect?]

Typical Gavin, always using these sneaky tricks to trip up Lance. He probably hadn’t expected Catherine to get caught in the crossfire.

Catherine didn’t bother replying. The whole thing had already blown up. Even if she begged Gavin now, it was way too late to put the genie back in the bottle.

She just hadn’t expected Gavin to push things even further.

He actually hired trolls to post everywhere, putting up side-by-side photos of Adelina from when she was a kid to now. Adelina was pretty, sure, but she’d always depended on her style and confidence to stand out. The trolls, though, zoomed in on her features and claimed she wasn’t just plain—she was downright ugly.

With that, they spun the story that Lance had terrible taste, mocking him for picking such an “unattractive” fiancée.

Gavin was clearly out to get Lance. He wanted to smear his name, but the internet wasn’t playing along. Instead, people started raving about how good-looking Lance was. They dug up his background, turning him from a business heavyweight into a bona fide internet heartthrob.

Whenever Catherine had a spare moment, she checked to see where the story was going.

By midday, the news had been buried. Everything online went quiet. Searching for Adelina’s name didn’t bring up a single headline about the scandal. It was like it had never happened.

Just when Catherine was about to relax, her phone buzzed with a message from Lara.

[The truth always comes out. Adelina really is ugly. I’m just not good at lying.]

Catherine stared at her phone, at a complete loss for words. She decided to change the subject.
