The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 132

As soon as they were out the door, Sarah turned to Adelina. “How did you even fall?”

Adelina looked like she was about to cry but the tears just wouldn’t come. “I honestly don’t know. One second I was fine, the next I just lost my balance.”

They were supposed to be celebrating her engagement, and instead everything went wrong. Worse yet, it happened to her. The pain in her leg didn’t even compare to the mess of anger and frustration boiling inside her.

And the worst part? Catherine was probably loving every second of this.

That thought made her voice sharpen. “Catherine was the only one near me. It had to be her. She did something, I know it.”

“I knew it was her,” Sarah huffed. “Don’t worry about a thing. Tomorrow, Belinda and I will go talk to Catherine. She’s not going to get away with this. We’ll make sure she’s out of Lance’s life for good.”

Adelina’s irritation turned into a bitter resentment that felt like it was stuck in her chest. “Yeah, Mom. You have to stand up for me.”

Sarah spent a while trying to comfort her. Off to the side, Daniel, who hadn’t said a word, finally spoke up. “How did Catherine even get involved with your engagement party? And why was she the one helping you down the stairs?”

Adelina felt a wave of panic. The engagement party shouldn’t have been handled by the support department. Catherine definitely shouldn’t have been the one helping her downstairs. But she’d wanted Catherine to see her with Lance, to watch her get engaged, to finally let go of whatever feelings she still had for him.

But now—

“Why are you asking about that right now?” Sarah shot Daniel a glare. “Adelina’s hurt and you haven’t said a single word to comfort her. All you do is interrogate. Are you even her father?”

Of course Daniel was worried about his daughter. But honestly, he was more upset that the engagement party had been ruined. They’d been so close.

The Green family’s voices echoed through the hospital room, everyone talking over each other.

Meanwhile, the internet was blowing up. People everywhere were asking if the engagement still counted since it was interrupted. No one could agree.
