The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 460

“Let’s go.” Harrell gave Lance a quick pat on the shoulder. “If we hang around any longer, the reporters are going to show up.”

Lance was the head of SilverLeaf Industries and heir to the James family. Either one of those titles alone was enough to cause a media frenzy if the press caught wind of him drinking by the sea late at night and getting the police involved.

Lance stood up, his black shirt puffing out in the wind. When he faced it, the fabric hugged his slim waist, showing just how lean he was.

“Thanks for your help. We’re heading back now.” He turned and walked toward the shore without looking back.

There weren’t any taxis out here, so the police decided to go the extra mile and gave him and Harrell a ride home.

Once they got out of the car, Lance pulled his jacket over his shoulders and made his way into the villa, still not bothering to glance back.

Harrell trailed behind, then suddenly burst out laughing. “Catherine really is a piece of work.”

Before the sound of his laughter could fully fade, Lance slammed the door shut. The noise made Harrell jump, his nose missing the door by maybe a centimeter.

“I’ll get in touch after the Lee family comes by tomorrow,” he called out through the closed door, then left.

After getting Lance home, the police called Catherine.

“Thank you so much,” Catherine said. “This is about Lance’s reputation. I’d really appreciate it if you could keep things quiet.”

“If anything happened to Mr. James here, we couldn’t take that responsibility. Thanks for letting us know, Catherine,” the officer replied, clearly understanding what was at stake.

When the call ended, Catherine shot Letty a message to let her know everything was fine. Then she headed back to the dining table.

By then, Gavin was already tipsy, slamming the table and going on and on about all the outrageous things Lance had done over the years.

“Alright, that’s enough. Jasper should be asleep by now. Time to wrap it up,” Catherine said, walking over to clear the table.

“Don’t touch that.” Lorinda stood up, gently nudging Catherine away. “You just make sure you get this big shot out of here. Alexa and I will handle the rest. Go on, get moving.”

Catherine had no idea what wild story Gavin had been spinning to get Lorinda this annoyed.

She tugged at Gavin’s arm. “Come on, time to go.”

Gavin stumbled to his feet. “I’m telling you, every word I said is true! Lance is scared of me, I swear!”

“Of course, he’s terrified,” Catherine said, half joking, half trying to placate him as she led him out.
