The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 462

Sally sat stiff as a board, her nerves written all over her face.

“Adela, this isn’t allowed,” Harrell said right away. “I have to play by the book.”

Adela didn’t even blink. She opened her purse, pulled out a check, and slid it over to him.

“Is this enough?”

Six zeros stared up at him.

Big spender, he thought.

Harrell looked at the check, then back at Adela. “Sally’s seven months along, right? The Lee family wants a boy?”

Adela nodded, not even trying to hide what she wanted. “There are two babies. One of them has to be a boy, don’t you think?”

“Then why wait so long for the check-up? At this stage, what if it’s not a boy?” Harrell asked.

Sally blurted out, “There will be a boy. There has to be.”

She didn’t look as cocky as she usually did. Just nervous and desperate.

Adela leaned in a little. “The Lee family is under a microscope right now. We can’t risk anyone finding out. You’ve just started out here in Eldervale, Harrell. If you help us, the Lee family will have your back. You'll have nothing to worry about.”

It was a promise and a warning, all wrapped together.

If Harrell said no, they’d make sure his life in Eldervale got a lot harder.

He caught the message loud and clear. He thought for a moment. “Can I have a little time to think about it?”

Adela nodded. She pulled out a test order and handed it over. “We’ll head over now. If you decide you’re in, just come find us.”

If he didn’t show, that would be his answer.

Any normal person would have jumped at the chance to side with the Lee family.

Harrell walked them to the door. Once they were gone, he closed it behind them and called Lance right away.

He told him everything Adela had said, word for word.
