The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 511

Of course that wouldn’t be right.

Lorinda knew exactly what she was doing. Honestly, she thought about including Lance only because the guest list felt pitifully small, and the whole thing just seemed too quiet. If she could, she’d invite every one of her fans and turn Alexander’s party into a massive celebration with thousands of people. But reality bit hard—she didn’t have that kind of money, and besides, it wasn’t even her own child. No way could she get away with that.

“Then at least let me invite Harrell, okay?”

“Is Harrell even better yet?” Catherine asked.

Lorinda nodded. “Pretty much. He still needs time for the internal stuff, but the outside’s all healed up.”

Even now, Catherine had no idea why Harrell got hurt in the first place. She’d tried to piece together memories from her C-section, but everything was so hazy, almost dreamlike. The chaos in the operating room still gave her this weird, unsettled feeling. Maybe that was the danger Lance had meant. Back then, while she was recovering, she never got the chance to ask questions. Later, when she finally felt better, it was like no moment ever seemed right.

“Alright, go ahead and invite Harrell,” Catherine said finally.

It might even give her a chance to talk to him about all that.

Lorinda nodded at once, already tapping away on her phone to send Harrell a message.

They planned to do Alexander’s one-month party at home. Alexa was in charge of putting together a feast, and Lorinda was on party decor duty. She started getting ready days beforehand, dragging Gavin around as her number-one helper for shopping and hauling all kinds of stuff.

Meanwhile, Gavin looked miserable. He’d been brooding for days, clearly stressed about something to do with Amanda.

“What’s your problem? Did your mom try setting you up again?” Lorinda asked, catching his grumpy mood right away.

Gavin sighed. “Can you not drag my mom into this?”

“You know exactly what I mean.” Lorinda flicked her blinker as they drove. “Seriously, what’s going on? Anything I can help with?”

They’d originally gotten to know each other through Catherine, but over time, their friendship was the real deal.

Gavin’s eyes darted away. “That orphanage director of yours… got any dirt on her?”

“Who?” Lorinda took a moment to catch up. “Oh, you mean Amanda?”

He nodded.

Lorinda turned, staring at him. “You actually tracked her down?”

Gavin’s face shut down.
