The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 563

“You talk way too much. Don’t forget, you’re the one who landed me in this mess,” Lance shot back, cutting straight to the point.

It was Harrell who had forged Adelina’s medical report—they both knew it.

“Okay, fine, I’ll call you after I’ve seen Lorinda.” Truth was, Harrell had no clue when the party would end or when he’d manage to catch Lorinda. But he’d called Lance anyway, worried he’d get impatient waiting.

Lance ended the call and returned to the bedroom, slipping back into bed beside Lanny.

In the next room, Catherine had her phone on speaker. Gavin’s voice was practically howling. “Did Lance get to you or something? You’ve been dodging my calls for ages, not even answering my texts properly!”

“It’s not that, Gavin.” Catherine sounded tired. “You just call at all the wrong times.”

Every time Gavin called, it was as if he had radar for Lanny’s nap schedule. While Lanny was asleep, Catherine always muted her phone to tidy up the place and organize Lanny’s clothes and toys. On top of the missed calls, her screen would get bombarded with Gavin’s text tirades—demanding reasons for her silence, ranting about this and that. Most days, Catherine could only shoot back a token reply or two.

“Don’t forget I’m your boss!” Gavin finally declared, pulling rank.

“Yes, boss,” Catherine replied, patience worn thin as she switched off the speaker. “Now, will you just tell me where Amanda is?”

“She’s under lock and key. How’d you know I had her? Lorinda tell you?” Gavin sounded genuinely curious.

Catherine hesitated. “Lorinda knows Amanda’s with you?”

“Yeah, of course she does,” Gavin grumbled. “Let’s not even talk about it. That Amanda is a sly one. If it weren’t for Lorinda getting involved, you’d probably still have no clue about where you come from.”

“So, you’re saying Lorinda found out the truth before the Lees ever showed up?”

“Exactly,” Gavin said, matter-of-fact. “But Amanda’s still hiding a lot—she must have something to lose. Geoffrey’s probably got her in a corner, which is why she won’t go against him.”

Catherine felt her chest tighten, her expression growing troubled. “Did Lorinda mention someting to you?”
