The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 573

Early morning in Eldervale’s exclusive neighborhood.

Belinda lounged on the sofa in a silk robe, her perfectly maintained face set in a look of impatience.

“This is all your doing,” she snapped, shooting an annoyed glance at Lance in his impeccable suit. “You show up at my place in the middle of the night, ruin my beauty sleep, and now the Green family’s at my doorstep so I can’t even lie in for once!”

Lance busied himself at the coffee machine; the aroma of fresh coffee drifted across the room.

“You could just refuse to see them,” he replied coolly.

Belinda walked over, took the cup from his hand before he could protest, and looked at him sharply. “I’d love to, but Sarah’s relentless—she doesn’t stop till she gets what she wants. If she makes a scene, the whole James family gets dragged down in embarrassment. In the end, it’s trouble you brought on us!”

Lance started making himself a second cup, unruffled. “The Greens aren’t likely to burn everything down. At worst, we’ll give people something to gossip about for a while. It won’t leave a lasting mark.”

That might be true, but Belinda was as proud as she was competitive—she couldn’t stand the idea of anyone laughing at her, even behind closed doors.

“Spare me. You’re not going anywhere. When she arrives, you’ll be here to back me up.”

Sarah wasn’t the only one who knew Belinda inside out—Belinda knew Sarah just as well, after all these years. When Sarah wanted to be cutting, she had a gift for saying exactly the things that stung most.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Belinda adjusted the front of her robe, motioning for the housekeeper to answer.

The door opened to reveal Sarah alone, carrying a box from a bakery in Cabinda—Belinda’s favorite.
