The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 585

“So, are you going?” Catherine asked, sliding into the seat across from him.

Lance lifted his eyes to meet hers. “Do you want to go?”

“I want you to go and find out how Sally suddenly has three kids. Didn’t she have just two daughters? Where did the son come from?” Catherine felt an almost irresistible urge to call Harrell right then and clear it up—how many children did Sally really have, and what were their genders?

“How many did she have?” Lance frowned, realizing for the first time he hadn’t really been keeping track.

Catherine held up two fingers. “Harrell says two girls.”

So where did this extra boy appear from? Not only were the numbers off, but the gender didn’t match either.

Lance’s expression chilled at once. Both of them automatically glanced over at Lanny.

Catherine’s brow furrowed as she remembered how the Lee family had hinted at her allowing Lanny to be adopted by Lemuel.

“I’m not going,” Lance said, voice flat. “If you’re that curious, go yourself.”

Catherine, having no interest in prying into the Lee family’s business, just sat down beside Lanny. “Do you think Ingram coming to Eldervale will have any impact on the SilverLeaf division here?”

Lance didn’t answer right away. “Why? You want to know?”

Catherine faltered. She’d only asked out of idle curiosity. “Don’t forget, you’re with Golden Horizon these days,” Lance added, his tone frosty. “If you’re really so eager to know what’s happening at SilverLeaf, maybe you should just go back there.”

Catherine shook her head at once. “Not that interested. Just curious, that’s all. If it’s inconvenient, forget I asked.” Without another word, she headed upstairs, leaving Lanny with Lance. Since he seemed content watching him, there was no need to whisk the little boy away.

Once in her room, Catherine sat down to catch up on the news, but just as she picked up her phone, a message from Harrell flashed on the screen.

[Catherine, are you coming to the Lees’?]

She immediately caught the nuance in that single word—coming.

[You’re going too, Harrell?] she typed back.

Harrell replied: [I’m on my way to the Lees’ now—well, more precisely, I’m headed to the Davis house.]
