The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 586

Catherine fell quiet.

Harrell didn’t say anything more about Lorinda. Some conversations were better had face-to-face.

Half an hour later, the car pulled up outside the Lee family’s villa. Through the wrought-iron gate, Catherine could see several people in the garden. Davis and Latonia stood on either side of Lorinda, the three of them watching Owen and Jasper intently.

Jasper, now able to walk, clung to Owen’s hand, toddling unsteadily as they made their way over.

“Slow down, Owen—don’t let Jasper fall!” Latonia called, her voice tinged with worry.

Owen’s eyes never left Jasper. “Relax, Mom, I’m on it,” he replied, still focused on the little one. “He’s the most precious thing in this family. If anyone’s taking a tumble, it’ll be me, not our little prince!”

“Mind your words, boy,” Davis said sternly. “If Jasper picks up any bad habits from you, I’ll know exactly who to blame.”

Owen grinned and stooped to scoop Jasper into his arms, carrying him toward the others. “You know you’re my dad, not his, right?”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than Owen caught a glimpse of Harrell standing just beyond the gate. His tone shifted. “Looks like his dad finally showed up?”

Everyone in the garden turned and looked toward the entrance. Davis and Latonia’s eyes landed squarely on Harrell. He stood outside the gate, holding two neatly wrapped gift boxes, and gave a polite nod.

Despite his courtesy, Davis and Latonia’s stern expressions remained unchanged; their eyes scrutinized him without a hint of warmth.

Lorinda, on the other hand, was looking directly at the car. Through the tinted glass, her gaze met Catherine’s. Sitting in the back, Catherine had lowered the window just a bit; she could hear every word from outside. A soft, contented smile crept across her lips.

Breaking away from her parents, Lorinda hurried over to Harrell, looping her arm through his. Her eyes lingered on the car. “Come inside,” she said gently.
