The Betrayed Princess Rising (Lylah and Ezra) novel Chapter 459

Chapter 459

3rd Person’s POV

Rowan had no idea what story Cora had fed the Omega to earn such unwavering sympathy.

Then again, considering Cora’s talent for presenting herself as the wounded party, perhaps he shouldn’t have been surprised at all.

The Alpha slowly lifted his gaze.

Ice flashed behind his eyes.

“You were assigned to serve her,” Rowan said evenly. “Nothing more.”

The temperature in the room seemed to drop.

Meredith stiffened instinctively beneath the weight of his Alpha presence.

“Do not mistake your role. And remember, just as easily as I employed you, I can remove you from her side the moment you forget your place.”

Meredith immediately lowered her head.

“Yes, Alpha.”

She realizes her mistake.

Perhaps she had chosen the wrong moment.

Or perhaps she had foolishly assumed the Alpha still possessed any lingering affection for his Luna.

Either way, she knew better than to push further.

With a respectful bow, Meredith quickly excused herself and left the study.

Silence settled over the office once more.

It lasted less than ten minutes before another knock sounded at the door.

Azrel entered carefully.

The Beta barely managed two steps before Rowan spoke.

“From now on, don’t let anyone into my office.” He didn’t even glance up from the documents spread across his desk. “Including her.”

Azrel hesitated. “Alpha, that’s actually what I came to report.”

Rowan’s pen paused briefly.

“A visitor has arrived requesting an audience.”

A strange chill crawled down Azrel’s spine as he recalled the female waiting outside. “She is really simular

to-”

“I don’t care.”

The interruption was immediate.

Rowan had already returned his attention to his work. “Send her away.”

The finality in his tone left no room for argument.

Azrel swallowed and nodded. “Understood, Alpha.”

Outside the executive floor, a line of Blackfang guards remained stationed before the entrance.

At the center of them stood Luén. The wind had loosened strands of hair around her face, and the cold had long since seeped through her coat after waiting outside for so long.

Yet she did not move.

Her violet eyes remained fixed on the entrance.

Waiting for him to come out.

The guards were beginning to lose patience.

“Alpha Rowan isn’t receiving visitors,” one of them said firmly. “Whatever business you think you have, it can wait.”

Another guard crossed his arms. “If you want an audience with the Alpha, earn his approval first.”

“He’ll regret refusing to see me. I’m here to tell him something important,” Luén answered. “About his

Luna.”

For a moment, silence lingered.

Then one of the guards barked out a laugh.

“Oh, really?”

Several others chuckled.

“What are you supposed to be? Some oracle sent by Selene herself?”

Their amusement echoed down the corridor.

The guard’s gaze swept over her dismissively.

“We’ve seen dozens like you. The moment rumors spread that Alpha Rowan’s mating was falling apart, females started crawling out of every corner of Lunaris.” His lip curled. “Let me save you the trouble. Our Alpha doesn’t take just anyone into his bed.”

The instant the words left his mouth, the atmosphere changed.
