Lilly shot Lucas a frosty look. He was obviously dying to see her gone.
Without thinking, she grabbed onto Jason’s sleeve and whispered, “Mr. Farill, please protect me.”
Jason glanced down at her hand curled around his suit.
William turned to Jason. “Jason, who is this?”
Since Lilly was standing behind Jason, William naturally addressed him instead of her.
Lucas noticed too. Lilly had come in with Jason.
“Mr. Farill, do you know Lilly? What’s your relationship with her?”
Jason kept his eyes on Lucas. “Mr. Matthis, why do you get so riled up when you see Lilly?”
Lucas straightened. “You might not know, Mr. Farill, but Lilly is my fiancée.”
Jason turned to Lilly. “Is that true?”
Lilly shook her head fast. “Mr. Farill, things with Lucas are complicated, but one thing’s for sure, I’ll never marry him.”
Jason’s face was hidden behind his mask, so no one could read his expression. Suddenly, he slipped his arm around Lilly’s shoulders.
Lilly froze in place.
Lucas’s expression changed right away.
Jason looked over at William. “William, this is my girlfriend, Lilly. I brought her here today.”
William’s eyes widened in surprise. “Jason, you actually have a girlfriend?”
Lilly blinked, caught off guard. She never expected Jason to introduce her as his girlfriend.
Lucas knew all of this. So when had she gotten together with Jason, the rising star in business? When did they even meet?
“Mr. Farill, is Lilly really your girlfriend?”
Jason nodded. “Yeah.”
Lucas’s temper flared. “But Lilly is my fiancée…”
Lilly jumped in before he could finish. “Lucas, I am not your fiancée. Stop making things up. I’m Jason’s girlfriend now.”
“I don’t buy it! I get it now. You and Mr. Farill are pretending to be a couple, aren’t you?”
Lilly’s heart skipped a beat. Lucas was annoyingly sharp. He’d guessed the truth.
“William, they’re not really together! Don’t let them trick you!” Lucas complained, trying to get William on his side.
