After lunch, Jason had to rush off to another meeting. He was always busy lately.
“You should go,” Lilly told him. “I’ll stay here and work on my designs.”
He paused for a second, looking almost worried. “I’m not going to come back and find you gone again, right? You’re not going to leave?”
Lilly leaned over and kissed him. “Relax. I’ll be right here. I’m not going anywhere.”
“You promise? I want to see you when I get back.”
“I promise.”
Satisfied with that, Jason finally left.
Lilly settled into her chair and started sketching, focusing on her work. After a little while, she heard the door open. Without looking up, she smiled. “Jason, you’re back already…”
She stopped as soon as she saw who it was. Not Jason. Frank.
“Oh, Frank. It’s you.”
Frank stepped into the room, a little too casually. “Who did you think it was? Jason?”
Lilly could feel the tension right away. She knew Frank never really liked her. “He’s in a meeting. Were you looking for him?”
Frank shook his head. “No. I came to talk to you.”
“You wanted to talk to me?”
He smirked. “Word travels fast around here. Jason carried you into the office today. Everyone’s talking about it. I have to say, even after three years, I should’ve known he’d end up back with you. I honestly don’t know what you did to him to make him so obsessed.”
