The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 437

Joseph put the phone back on the table, his expression clearly darkening.

“I haven't even gone after him, and here he is, harassing you.”

Joseph blamed Fletcher.

If he hadn't insisted on coming to the hospital, Vivica wouldn't have had to make a special trip, and this accident, which nearly killed her, would never have happened.

Vivica didn't know what to say.

It was an accident. No one was really to blame.

If anyone was to blame, it was the other driver. But he was dead now. He had paid for his mistake with his life, so there was nothing left to pursue.

“Let it go. Considering he did go through with the compatibility test for Chaim, we can't really blame him,” Vivica said softly, not wanting to argue but unable to bear seeing her husband angry.

Joseph sat on the edge of the bed and took her hand.

“You don't have to comfort me. I'm a man of principle.”

“Yes, I know. Mr. Baird has always been principled,” Vivica said with a small smile.

This wasn't flattery; it was the truth.

A few days ago, when she said she had no intention of taking any of the money from the sale of Fletcher's company, Joseph's understanding and support showed her that he wasn't as cold and rational as people thought.

“Go to sleep. You need to rest to recover quickly.”

“Okay.” Vivica smiled and asked him, “What about you? There's only one bed in this room, and the sofa is a bit small.”

Joseph glanced around the room, his voice dropping to a low, gentle murmur as he held her hand. “Is that even a question? A husband and wife naturally sleep in the same bed.”

Vivica pressed her lips together to hide a smile, feeling both shy and delighted.

In the past, she might have made a token offer for him to go home and sleep, but she wasn't pretending anymore.

Ever since they had confessed their true feelings for each other, she had stopped putting up a front.

“Then we'll have to squeeze in. It's cold anyway.”

Closer is warmer.

Seeing her reaction, Joseph knew she was also looking forward to sleeping together. After all, he'd been away for a few days, and a short separation can feel like a second honeymoon.

“I'll go get washed up, then. You can go to sleep.”

“Okay.”

Joseph turned and walked away. Vivica lay there, staring at the ceiling, her ears still ringing with the phantom sound of that terrifying, screeching crash.

Her phone rang again. She slowly turned her head toward the nightstand, frowning. Joseph was still in the bathroom, so she had to endure a wave of dizziness to sit up and reach for it.
