The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 132

Petty noticed the change in his expression right away. She remembered that people in his world all had their own rules and boundaries.

She met his gaze, open and unflinching, and quickly said, “Sorry, that was out of line. If this isn’t a good time…”

The man pulled out his phone, tapped the screen a few times, and handed it to her.

Malcom.

His name appeared on the screen. He didn’t look much older than thirty, just like Aaron had said. Tall, broad-shouldered, mysterious behind a mask and a cap, he had that unmistakable aura of someone you didn’t just walk up to and chat with.

He grabbed his jacket and left. By the time Petty finished her shower and stepped out, he was already gone.

She rummaged through her bag for her car keys and walked toward her car, only to see someone waiting right beside it.

The wind tonight was fierce, sharp against her cheeks. The man standing by her door must have been there for a while. When their eyes met, she caught a flicker of warmth in his eyes before he started toward her, his stride confident and steady.

“Petty.”

She blinked in surprise. “Harris? What are you doing here?”

He smiled easily. “Had dinner with a friend. Saw your car outside.”

But the cold in his posture told her he’d been waiting there for more than just a few minutes.

Something fluttered in her chest. He hadn't called or messaged. He just waited. If she’d come out much later, would he have stayed all that time?

Her cheeks were still a little flushed, her hair loose and carrying the scent of fresh shampoo. She must have looked like she’d just finished a workout.

Harris stepped forward, putting himself between her and the wind. “You shouldn’t stand out here after exercising. The wind’s too much.”

He moved a little closer, and suddenly Petty felt the distance shrink too much. Instinctively, she wanted to step back.
