The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 160

Petty let out a slow breath. What was she even thinking? The two of them could not be more different, really. The only thing they had in common was that both of them moved with the same kind of quick, confident grace.

Malcom noticed the faint line of blood on Petty's chin, left behind by a stray shard of glass. He pulled his gloves tighter, his deep brown eyes flashing sharp and cold.

He grabbed a steel pipe from the ground. The men facing him hesitated, shrinking back for a second before sharing a look and swarming forward together.

There were just too many of them.

Petty’s anxiety spiked. It was impossible to fight off that many people at once. Even with Malcom's skills, they were seriously outnumbered, and the whole street seemed packed with strangers with bad intentions.

And Malcom wasn’t just protecting himself. Part of him was holding back, focused on her and whether she was safe.

If this kept up, someone was going to get really hurt—Malcom, Aaron, maybe both.

Suddenly, Petty felt cold all over.

A flash of metal caught her eye. Malcom’s right arm was stabbed by a knife.

He barely flinched. Instead, Malcom grabbed the attacker by the wrist in one swift move and twisted it backward. There was a sickening snap, and somehow, the assailant’s own knife ended up buried in his chest.

Aaron managed to break away from the chaos and sprinted over. “J!”

Malcom glanced at him, mouth set in a hard line, and gave a little nod toward the other side of the car, signaling Aaron to protect Petty.

Petty knew better than to play the hero. She had no real training and would only get in the way if she tried to jump in. So she stayed in the car, hoping Malcom and Aaron could manage the mess outside.

Still, worry gnawed at her. There were so many of them. She’d already called the police, but they hadn’t shown up yet.

And Malcom… she was sure he’d been stabbed. There was no way he wasn’t hurt. She just couldn’t sit there doing nothing.
