The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 277

After Franco left, it wasn’t long before one of the maids brought in lunch.

“Mrs. White, it’s time for lunch.”

But Petty just sat there on the bed, not moving an inch. The maids hesitated, then set the food down on the coffee table and slipped out quietly.

Evening came. When Jackson walked upstairs and saw the untouched lunch still sitting there, he let out a heavy sigh.

He moved to the edge of the bed. Petty hadn’t changed position all afternoon. She looked more like a statue than a living person, and it tugged at his heart. He knelt down a little to try and catch her eye.

“Petty, please, just eat something. Skipping meals will only make Franco angry, and it’s not helping you, either. Don’t make yourself suffer to prove a point.”

Still, she shook her head, silent but determined. “I’m not hungry.”

It was only with Jackson that she showed even a hint of emotion.

He switched the lights on, giving her one last concerned look before quietly leaving her alone.

The sky darkened, and rain started drumming lightly against the windows.

Petty just sat there, watching the raindrops racing each other down the glass. She was so deep in thought, she didn’t notice the door open behind her.

Franco, who’d trained in martial arts since he was a kid, walked in so quietly his footsteps barely made a sound. He made his way over and looked at the distant, empty expression on Petty’s face. His hand went up for a moment. He hesitated, then reached out and gently brushed a loose strand of hair away from her cheek.

“Eat something,” he said.

Petty stiffened at the touch, pulled away, and turned her gaze back to the window, still refusing to react.

“Don’t want to eat downstairs?” Franco’s voice stayed calm. He turned to call out toward the hallway. “Bring the food up here and get a small table. She can eat in bed.”
