The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 318

Aaron paused, then seemed to think of something and decided to tell Petty. “Malcom didn’t abandon you. He ran into Franco’s men and got hurt. You know Franco’s big guy, Jay? He’s insanely strong.”

Every time Aaron had sparred with Jay, he got taken down in less than ten moves. He never even stood a chance, so he still didn’t know Jay’s true limits. But when Jay saved him on the cruise, he finally understood. This big guy was seriously on another level.

Petty’s eyes clouded over for a moment.

Malcom was hurt?

Had she been wrong about him this whole time?

“Is he badly hurt?” she asked, anxiety leaking into her voice. Malcom had gotten injured for her. Just earlier, she’d actually worried he might be working with Franco.

Jay always looked so cold and perfect, like the kind of guy girls would totally lose their minds over. But there was something scary about his strength.

Back when she’d been learning self-defense from Malcom, she’d secretly compared him and Jay. She had seen both of them fight. To her, they seemed to be equals.

So how could Malcom lose to Jay?

Aaron shook his head. “I haven’t seen him yet. He just said he was hurt, but you know what he’s like. He’d never admit if it was bad. But if he couldn’t protect you, it must be serious. I’ll check on him later.”

Honestly, before Jay saved him, he’d actually thought about asking Malcom to go after Jay. Now? Yeah, that was definitely off the table. Jay’s someone you really don’t want to mess with.

Petty thought for a moment. “I’ll go with you tomorrow to see him.”

If Franco had been able to block her off like that, he probably already knew she was trying to leave Cabinda. She didn’t think she’d be getting out anytime soon.

But Franco was supposed to be locked up. How did he get out?

Unless...

“What’s going on with the case now?” Petty asked, reaching out for her phone on the nightstand.
