The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 381

Jay led the medical staff down to the basement. The heavy door swung open, then shut behind them.

“What are you doing? What do you want?” Laura demanded, panic rising as the doctor and nurse moved in closer. She tried to fight them off, her fear turning into frantic resistance.

Jay walked over, no emotion showing on his face. Without hesitation, he struck her sharply at the back of her neck. Laura, who had been struggling just a moment before, went limp and crumpled to the floor.

He looked at the stunned medical team and spoke with cool indifference. “You can start the bone marrow extraction now.”

Someone like her, who could kill Susan without a shred of remorse, didn’t deserve any pain relief. No need for anesthesia.

Petty woke up to the soft glow of a dim lamp in the room. It was just bright enough for her to make out her surroundings. She blinked and pushed herself up in bed, her heart pounding when she saw how familiar it all looked.

But as she took it in, she realized right away this wasn’t the island villa. There was no sound of waves outside, no hint of flowers in the air. On the surface, the room seemed almost identical, but here and there were small differences she couldn’t ignore.

If she wasn’t paying close attention, she probably would have thought Franco had brought her back to the island. But this place… where was she exactly?

Just then, a German Shepherd nudged its way in through the cracked door.

“General!” Her face lit up with a sudden, genuine smile. She tossed aside the covers and hurried out of bed, dropping to the floor to hug the big dog close.

If General was here, could it really be…

Petty let go of him and headed straight for the window. Pulling back the curtains, she stared out over the garden.

It really was Misty Vale. The entire stretch of garden unfolded before her eyes, and from this angle she was looking right out from where her old bedroom used to be.

She turned around, scanning the huge room behind her. Franco had burned this place down before but somehow he’d merged two rooms into one just like the villa on the island. The resemblance was uncanny.
