The screen glowed with the familiar interface of the biggest social media platform in the country. Franco had a personal account here. Last time, it was through this very account that he announced to everyone that Petty was his wife.
But this time... things were different.
Laura’s gaze locked on the screen. The account was definitely Franco’s. Just thirty minutes ago, he’d posted an official statement. She breezed past most of the text, zeroing in on the last line.
Petty and I are no longer connected in any way.
A giddy little laugh slipped from Laura. She pulled the tablet tight against her chest, reading and rereading the statement, hardly able to believe it. Franco had actually kept his word!
Not long ago, Franco made Petty public, put her on that pedestal as Mrs. White. And now, he was the one personally clarifying that there was nothing between them anymore. She wondered what kind of face Petty would make when she saw this.
Laura was thrilled, but something in her mind sounded a warning. She remembered the way Franco had just looked at her. What if he had faked this whole page just to trick her? Without hesitating, she tapped open the comments below the post, hoping to see what people thought.
So Petty isn’t Mrs. White after all?
Then what was that last announcement about?
Are they playing with us?
These rich people and their drama...
I saw Petty at court the other day. Did they get divorced? Did Petty dump Franco?
That’s a stretch. Maybe Franco dumped her...
I doubt it. My friend at the TV station heard that Petty was the one who wanted the divorce. She probably just left Franco.
