The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 87

Cabinda, late at night.

Galen stepped in front of Laura’s wheelchair, stopping her. “Franco told me to keep an eye on you. He said you’re not allowed to go.”

“So it’s true? Something happened to Petty?” Laura’s grip on her wheelchair’s armrests was so tight, her knuckles looked like they might break.

Galen had never seen Laura like this before. She was nothing like her usual calm, gentle self. There was something wild and desperate in her eyes, something that made him uneasy for a second.

He shook off the feeling. He was probably just imagining things. Laura was simply worried, that’s all.

He tried to reassure her. “Petty’s been kidnapped.”

Laura stared blankly for a moment, then her voice turned cold. “Didn’t Hans leave her with bodyguards? The bodyguards can save her. Harris can save her. Why does Franco have to go himself?”

No one knew who had taken Petty, or how dangerous they might be. Was Franco really willing to risk his life for this?

Her words sounded harsh. After all, she and Franco used to be friends. But Galen knew Laura still resented the fact that Petty had married Franco.

He didn’t want to get dragged into their drama. He just stuck to the facts. “Even if Petty wants to leave him, they’re still married. And she grew up with him. Even if there’s no love left between them, they’re like family. Of course he’d want to save her. It makes sense.”

He hoped Laura would understand, but her expression only grew colder. She nodded at the housekeeper, signaling her to push the wheelchair forward.

“I want to go see for myself.”

Galen quickly blocked her path again. “What are you even going to do? They found out Petty’s been taken to some mountain. You’re in a wheelchair, Laura. You can’t climb a mountain. Franco’s there to rescue her. If you go, you’ll just get in the way. You can’t help, you might even make things worse. Why go?”

Laura’s fingers tightened even more. “I just… I have a bad feeling. I can’t shake it.”

She looked down at the red gemstone bracelet on her wrist, her heart pounding with anxiety. Something felt wrong. Something big was about to happen.
