Chapter 105 – Tangled in Moonlight

I woke slowly, like surfacing from a dream too sweet to let go.

Warmth cradled me from all sides. My body ached in the most decadent way–muscles humming, thighs
sore, lips swollen from too many kisses that tasted like forever. Every inch of me pulsed with memory.
What we’d done. What we’d become.
My skin still tingled where his mouth had been.
I didn’t open my eyes at first. I just lay there, cocooned in the scent of us–smoke and pine and
storm–drenched hunger. Thoren’s arm was draped possessively over my waist, his breath slow and steady
against the back of my neck. Even in sleep, he held me like he feared I might disappear again.
I turned, slowly, biting back a soft groan as my body protested the movement. Every muscle stretched tight and deliciously used. Gods, he hadn’t just taken me last night–he’d worshipped me, claimed me,
devoured me until I forgot where I ended and he began.
And then I saw him.
Thoren.
His face was slack with sleep, lashes dark against sharp cheekbones. The mark I gave him–my mark- rested proudly on his neck. My chest swelled just looking at it. At him.
This lethal, untouchable king… was mine.
I brushed my fingers along his jaw, so careful not to wake him. The bond buzzed between us like a live wire–hot, electric, endless. I could feel him. Even asleep, he was tethered to me so deeply I doubted I’d
ever breathe the same way again.
My p***y ached for his c**k. I wanted to crawl on top of him right then. Slide down onto him slowly, take him again and again until the ache in my hips turned molten and the sun forgot how to rise.
But I didn’t.
Because if I did… we wouldn’t leave this bed today. Or tomorrow.
I forced myself to slip from beneath his arm–carefully, slowly–and padded barefoot across the room to the attached bath. The stone floor was cool under my feet, but my body was still burning from the inside
out.
I twisted the knobs, steam spilling into the air as the water heated. The sound was grounding, soothing, a
small moment of calm before the chaos returned.
Because it would return. It always did.
I stepped beneath the stream and let the water cascade down my back, over my breasts, between my

thighs–hissing as it met the soreness there. A reminder. A brand. A memory I never wanted to fade.
My fingers moved to my hair, slicking it back, and that’s when I heard the door open behind me.
A low, gravel–rough voice followed.
“Well well… just gonna leave me knocked out in bed while you sneak off in here to get all wet and slippery
without me?”
I glanced back over my shoulder, smirking. “You looked too peaceful to disturb.”
He stepped inside, already gloriously naked, and I took in every inch of him without shame.
“That so?” he asked, joining me beneath the spray, heat rolling off him like a second sun. “Because I can think of much better ways to wake up.”
I turned to face him fully, water beading down his chest. “Trust me, I considered it,” I said. “I had a very
compelling vision of waking you by sliding your c**k inside me.”
His eyes darkened. “And you didn’t because…?”
“Because I’m a little sore,” I admitted, voice dropping as my palm skimmed over his chest. “And if I’d
started… I wouldn’t have stopped. I would’ve kept riding you until we collapsed all over again and probably
wouldn’t leave this room for days.”
His hands landed on my hips, possessive. “I fail to see the problem.”
I laughed, leaning up to kiss him once, slow and soft. “We have things to do. People to remove from our
lives.”
His expression sobered, but not the fire in his gaze. “That… I couldn’t agree with more.”
He reached behind me, grabbing a bottle and squirting some into his hand. “Turn around.”
I raised a brow. “Commanding me already?”
He gave me a look that sent heat spiraling straight to my core. “I just want to wash my mate’s hair.”
I turned.
His fingers massaged my scalp with unexpected tenderness, strong hands working through my strands as
the water rushed down around us. The intimacy of it unraveled something deep inside me–something ancient, something primal.
This man, this king, had torn me apart last night and put me back together stronger. And now… now he was here, washing me like I was the most precious thing he’d ever held.
And I was.
I let myself relax into the touch. Into him.
Because for once… there was no war between us.

Only water. Only heat. Only us.
And the storm that was coming?
We’d face it together.
Bound twice over.
