The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1300

He thought he’d have to pull some serious strings to get her to come to the Isle of Veil. To his surprise, she just agreed, like it was nothing. Was she really willing to risk both Solenia and the N Organization for someone she called her master?

Allanson’s lips curled into a knowing smile. She was just like her grandmother, always ruled by her heart. For a moment, he almost felt like he’d gone back in time, talking to Winnie again. Charlotte was turning into her more and more every day.

“Alright, I’ll wait for you,” he said, then hung up. He stared out the window, his eyes a little unfocused, and murmured, “I’ll be waiting for you to come back.”

The second the call ended, Anthony took the phone away and gently lifted Charlotte, settling her onto the bed and covering her with a blanket.

“There’s something weird about Allanson this time…” Charlotte held onto Anthony’s hand, her face all scrunched up in confusion. “He’s acting different.”

She couldn’t quite put her finger on it. It just felt like he was being way more gentle with her than before.

“Don’t stress. Your dad and I will handle it,” Anthony said softly. He leaned down, pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, and whispered, “Just try to get some sleep, okay?”

“Okay.” Charlotte let the thought go and closed her eyes. Then she suddenly opened them again. “Don’t let Newell find out about this,” she said. “It’ll just cause a mess.”

The next day, around noon, out at a villa on the edge of town, Newell was stretched out on a wicker rocking chair in black loungewear. His hands rested on his stomach and his eyes were half-closed. Sunlight streamed in, making his pale skin look even more fragile.

“Newell, Dr. David is here,” a staff member said politely.
