The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1681

“Wait!”

The sharp voice of a man cut through the air. In an instant, everyone in the room turned, nerves stretched tight as they looked toward the source.

At the entrance of the conference center stood a tall guy in a bright, eye-catching floral shirt. His hands were tucked in his pockets, and there was a smile on his face that looked just a little off. Not quite right.

“And who’s that supposed to be?” Hartley asked, frowning, while Patricia gave a skeptical look.

Neither of them had a clue.

But Andrew and Shirley, the moment they caught sight of him, their eyes went wide with recognition and maybe even a little relief. Adonis? What was he doing here? Somehow, whenever one of Charlotte’s people showed up, it made everything feel just a bit safer.

“Who is that?” Pandora asked, still staring.

Karan glanced back at her, just as confused. “No idea.” Her lips curled into a skeptical sneer. “Probably just here to waste time. Doesn’t matter anyway. As long as they can’t find the guy, none of this matters.”

She clearly wasn’t taking the newcomer seriously.

A security guard stepped in front of Adonis, blocking the way. “Sir, we’re in the middle of a meeting. If you don’t have business here, please leave.”

Adonis shot him a look. “Why, do I look like trouble or something?” He pulled his hands from his pockets and straightened his shirt, putting on a mock-serious face. When he tried to smile, it only made him look even less trustworthy.

Definitely didn’t help his case.

The guard hesitated, awkward, not sure what to say.

“I heard you’re looking for someone,” Adonis said, voice direct. “I was watching the live stream and, what do you know, caught the guy from your security footage. Talk about timing, right?” He shrugged. “So, I brought him along.”

The words hit like a brick. Pandora and Karan’s self-assured smiles vanished on the spot.
