"It's fine."
Donald smiled, reassuring her softly. "I'm their biological son, they won't do anything to me."
Tansy couldn't bring herself to smile.
How could he still be in the mood to joke at a time like this?
"Lottie, please take care of Tansy for me."
"Sure."
Charlotte obligingly sat next to Tansy, her eyes curving into a smile. "Don't worry. For the sake of having such an adorable grandson, they won't be too hard on him."
Tansy pursed her lips, remaining silent.
If they knew her true identity...
Would the Gates family despise her and the child?
Would they force her and Donald to separate?
Inside the study.
Samantha and Kevin sat on the sofa while Donald stood before them with a solemn expression.
"Let's hear it. What exactly is going on?" Samantha crossed her arms over her chest. If her husband hadn't been holding her back, she would have jumped up and beat him already.
"Tansy is a girl I met four years ago when I was kidnapped."
Donald had no intention of hiding anything, answering truthfully, "Her father is Salazar Vargas, the leader of The Stygian Syndicate."
The Stygian Syndicate?
The couple was all too familiar with that name.
The reason Donald had nearly died in Latin America back then was because he'd been held captive by that exact organization.
And Tansy was the daughter of that syndicate's boss?
"Tansy isn't like her father." Donald looked up, his voice heavy. "She almost lost her life trying to save me back then."
"To keep from holding me back, she never even tried to contact me, enduring immense pressure to raise our child all on her own."
"And regarding the recent kidnapping incident..."
At this point, Donald recounted the events that had transpired in Latin America the previous day in excruciating detail.
The couple was so horrified they nearly fell off the sofa.
