Samantha's smile faltered slightly, thinking that foreigners were certainly direct when they spoke.
"As long as you're sure."
Samantha patted Tansy's hand, speaking softly, "Don't worry. From now on, treat this place as your own home, and treat us as your own family."
"If Donald ever bullies you, just tell us. The entire Gates family won't let him off the hook."
"If he dares to make you suffer, I'll take a big stick and beat him right out the door myself!"
Tansy glanced at Donald, not knowing how to respond, overcome with emotion. "Thank you, Mrs. Gates."
She had truly been on edge before arriving.
She had even mentally prepared herself.
As long as the Gates family could accept Hector and give him a stable life.
As for herself...
She was willing to walk away.
She never expected the Gates family to be so magnanimous and kind.
It made her feel even more certain that her desperate fight to keep her child had been the right decision.
"You just got back, and your body hasn't fully recovered. Get some good rest. Don't worry about Hector, I'll take care of him myself."
"Thank you, Mrs. Gates." Tansy nodded slightly.
"Still calling me Mrs. Gates?"
Samantha pouted, feigning displeasure. "Are you still harboring resentment in your heart?"
"Tell you what, I'll go beat Donald up right now to help you vent."
Saying this, she ordered Kevin to go find a stick.
The thicker, the better.
Tansy's eyes widened in panic.
Donald was speechless.
"No need." Tansy bit her lip, hesitating. She carefully moved her lips, her voice barely a whisper. "Thank you... Mom."
She had learned before that a daughter-in-law should call her husband's mother 'Mom'.
"That's my good girl."
Samantha was instantly overjoyed. She stood up, cupped Tansy's face, and beamed. "The room has been prepared. Go get some sleep, and when you wake up, there will be delicious food waiting."
"Thank you, Mom."
