The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 2174

Spotting Newell, Frederick and Ophelia dashed over excitedly. Taking one side each, they affectionately hugged his legs.

"Grand Master, we brought you candy!"

Ophelia immediately emptied her pockets, handing over all the sweets she had hoarded for the entire trip and pressing them into Newell's hands.

"Thank you, Ophelia."

Newell knelt down, gently patting both of their heads with a warm smile. "Did you miss your Grand Master?"

"I did."

Frederick nodded.

"I missed you so much!"

Ophelia nodded enthusiastically, a bright smile lighting up her face. She leaned in close to Newell's ear and whispered, "Mommy and Daddy came to celebrate your birthday, but they told Fred and me to keep it a secret."

Birthday?

Newell stiffened slightly at the word. His gaze shifted toward the couple approaching in the distance, Anthony carrying a large cake.

He had almost forgotten the date himself.

"Is that right?" Newell chuckled softly. "Well, thank you, Frederick and Ophelia, for celebrating with me."

As evening fell.

Everyone gathered around the dining table. Frederick and Ophelia each took a turn giving their birthday wishes.

Frederick said, "I wish Grand Master endless health and happiness."

Put on the spot, Ophelia's brain short-circuited.

She thought for a second before blurting out, "I wish Grand Master... never dies!"

The moment the words left her mouth, all the nearby servants burst into laughter.

"Alright, Grand Master accepts your blessing." A smile played on Newell's lips. He looked up just in time to see Anthony and Charlotte raising their glasses to him.

The man paused for a few seconds before lifting his own glass and clinking it against theirs.

"Thank you."

"You're the children's Grand Master, after all." Anthony's lips curled into a lazy smirk. "Respecting our elders is the least we can do."

"..."

Newell offered a polite smile, secretly thinking he should have slipped some voice-stealing poison into Anthony's drink.

"Master, thank you for working so hard to manage the organization's forces all these years," Charlotte said with a bright smile.

"You--"

Just as Newell was about to seize the opportunity to finally pass the baton, Charlotte cut him off. "And we'll need you to keep up the hard work moving forward. Come on, eat up."

"..."

Newell stared at the couple, unable to muster a smile. "You two really are a match made in heaven. Both of you are entirely too calculating."

Was this a birthday party?
