The Officer's Runaway Wife and Secret Son novel Chapter 464

"We're free. You two go and don't worry about a thing. Get a thorough check-up. Felix is fine here. Daniel said he's taking him downstairs to build a snowman in the morning."

Emily paused, her tone turning suggestive. "You two try to behave yourselves."

She hung up without another word.

Clara stared at the dark screen and gave a small cough.

She walked into the living room and looked at the man who still had his back to her, fussing with the flowers. She tapped on the kitchen island.

"Go get ready for bed. We're going to the hospital at eight tomorrow morning."

As soon as she finished speaking, her wrist was grabbed.

Rhys came around from behind her, pulling her back into his arms. His palm rested on her waist, holding her tight.

Before Clara could react, his lips were on hers again, tracing the corner of her mouth and moving along her lip line.

"...Rhys!"

"Hmm."

He hummed in response, showing no intention of letting go. His breath was hot as his lips brushed against her lower lip, nibbling it gently before releasing it to kiss her again.

After a long moment, he finally let her go, their breaths mingling in the air.

Rhys whispered near her ear, "I have to disagree with what Emily said."

Clara's mind was fuzzy as she panted, "...What did she say?"

"She said I have no game."

Clara's ears burned. She stared at him for two seconds, then shoved his face away and spun around to leave.

"Get lost."

Rhys stumbled back a step from the push and stood there, laughing.

The next day was a rare, sunny one.

They drove to Brighton City General Hospital. As Clara watched Rhys go in for his CT scan, she couldn't help but feel a flutter of anxiety.

The door to the examination room opened and closed. About half an hour later, Dr. Black emerged with the latest scans and called Clara into his office.

When they arrived at Daniel's house, Felix was already dressed and waiting by the door.

"Daddy! Mommy!"

Felix launched himself like a small cannonball, hugging Rhys's leg. "Uncle Daniel and Daddy Simon lost to me last night! I got to eat two sausages!"

Rhys scooped his son up with one arm and tweaked his nose. "Is that so? Felix is so amazing. So where do you want to go play today?"

"Let's go shooting!"

The family of three drove back to the kids' activity center.

They spent the whole morning at the shooting gallery. The father-son duo worked in perfect sync, dominating the games and winning a whole basketful of prizes.

Several kids of similar age watched with envy. One little boy tugged on his mom's sleeve and whispered, "Mommy, I want a daddy who can shoot, too."

The young mother looked helpless, then glanced at Clara and Rhys standing together, her expression filled with admiration.

After lunch nearby, they returned to Riverside Court in the afternoon. An exhausted Felix was already asleep in Rhys's arms.

As they reached their front door, Clara noticed a fairly large cardboard box sitting beside it.
