The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 217

Immediately after, Leilani quickly and precisely applied the herbal paste around the wound. Relying on the medicinal properties of the paste, she moved with lightning speed, inserting needles one by one into specific pressure points on Arnold's body.

...

For the entire morning, Leilani was fully focused on treating Arnold. Beads of sweat formed continuously on her forehead.

In the room, Arnold's breathing seemed much stronger than before. The rise and fall of the lines on the ventilator monitor became significantly more pronounced.

Leilani peeled off her gloves, the hair at her temples dampened with sweat. She took the glass of warm water Callahan handed her, took a sip, and let her gaze fall on Arnold's pale face.

"The toxicity is suppressed for now. But a full cure will take time. It's going to be a long process. You need to be mentally prepared."

Callahan gave a hum of acknowledgment. His eyes swept over the poultice on Arnold's wrist before settling back on Leilani's face. "Thank you. That was hard work."

A long process didn't matter, as long as Arnold's life could be saved.

Since the treatment was over, Leilani began packing her tools, asking a question that sounded casual. "Did Arnold get poisoned in Zamora? Seemed like it was shortly after I came back to the country?"

Leilani couldn't remember clearly. But she vaguely recalled that before they cleared up their misunderstanding, Callahan had mentioned transferring Arnold back to the country. So, Arnold must have been poisoned shortly after her return.

But Callahan had gone to Zamora on business. Arnold appeared to be just a regular subordinate. Why would the opposition target him so viciously?

Facing Leilani's speculation, Callahan paused imperceptibly, his tone remaining normal. "Correct."

Leilani looked up at him. "When was Arnold transferred back?"

"Half a month ago."

Leilani nodded thoughtfully but didn't press further. She simply closed her medical kit with a soft click.
