Especially that last part of what the nurses said, it struck right at the guilt in Clive's heart.
Clive paused in his steps, turning his head sharply to glare at those nurses.
These gossiping loudmouths!
Noticing his gaze, the nurses immediately quieted down, all tacitly lowering their heads to look at their computers, pretending to be busy organizing paperwork.
Clive gritted his teeth, his face turning livid with anger.
He stood there, shooting the nurses a few cold, dark glares, making the nurses panic internally under his chilling gaze.
They thought Clive was going to storm over to the triage desk to settle the score with them.
But unexpectedly, after staring at them for a moment, Clive didn't seem to have any intention of coming over to confront them, and instead walked quickly toward the blood draw window.
In truth, Clive was holding in his fury.
If this were a private clinic, he would have gone over and ripped those women's mouths open long ago.
But thinking about Zeus's warnings in the consultation room earlier,
Clive wasn't that impulsive. After all, he still had to count on Zeus to treat his illness.
He had to keep his head down and lay low.
With a belly full of suppressed anger, Clive arrived at the blood draw window. He handed the test orders through the window a bit roughly, slamming the paper onto the counter with a loud smack.
The nurse glanced up at him but didn't rush to take the slip. She first finished labeling the sample vials for the previous patient before slowly reaching out.
The nurse picked up the slip and scanned it. Her gaze paused on the name "Clive Sloan," then moved down to the requested tests.
"HIV antibody screening"
"Syphilis TPPA test"
"Gonococcus culture".
The nurse's eyebrows lifted imperceptibly.
