The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 715

But lately, Fitch's company was busy planning a massive project. As the head of the firm, he was constantly tied up with work and rarely came home.

With the only person in the Sherwood house who showed her an ounce of care gone, Tamara's mood naturally tanked.

With all this pent-up frustration and stress, there was no way she could maintain the radiant energy she had before getting pregnant.

She scooped up a handful of cold water and splashed it on her face, trying to clear her head, but a second later, another violent wave of nausea hit her.

"Ugh!"

Tamara doubled over, dry-heaving until her whole body shook, only managing to bring up a few mouthfuls of bitter acid.

Footsteps echoed from the hallway.

Tamara instinctively looked up and, through the crack in the partially open door, saw Gloria walking out of the study, holding her coffee mug.

Her heart fluttered slightly with a desperate spark of hope. Maybe...

But Gloria didn't break her stride, nor did her gaze shift even a fraction of an inch. It was as if the brightly lit bathroom, with its faint sounds of distress, simply didn't exist. She walked straight to her bedroom and firmly, quietly shut the door behind her.

That soft click of the door closing echoed in Tamara's chest, magnified a thousand times.

Tamara bit her lower lip so hard she tasted copper before finally letting go. Her retching had been loud enough, and there was only a single wall between her and Gloria. There was no way Gloria hadn't heard her. She heard it, but deliberately chose to ignore it.

Not a single word of comfort. Even though the baby growing inside Tamara was her own biological grandchild!

Gripping the edges of the sink, Tamara stared at her pathetic reflection and suddenly felt ridiculous. A profound sense of powerlessness completely suffocated her.

...

At 2:00 AM.

Tamara lay on her side in bed. Her stomach was still churning, but the hollow, empty ache in her chest was far worse.
