Chapter 653 Shocking News
Judy’s POV
I stared at the two of them, dumbfounded. I couldn’t have heard her correctly; Nan was pregnant?
Finishey
A long time ago, she admitted that she couldn’t have children. But from the way she was looking at me. I knew she wasn’t joking. At that moment, I realized how pale she was… how distant she almost seemed today. She had a faraway look in her eyes before she walked down the aisle, and I wondered if it had anything to do with the fact that she was pregnant.
When did she even find out about this? And why hadn’t she told me sooner?
“Pregnant?” I asked, finally finding my voice. “How long have you known?”
“Not long,” Nan said quickly. “We just found out a few minutes ago.”
“That’s why we went to the drug store,” Chester explained, draping a protective arm around Nan’s shoulders. “She was feeling sick all last night, and she was having trouble keeping anything down this morning. She was lightheaded and unwell. I kept telling her we should go to the doctors, but she refused because of your wedding.”
My eyes went back to Nan, and I saw tears in them.
“I’m your maid of honor. I couldn’t miss your wedding because of a stomach bug,” she told me, sniffling. “I took some medicine, and I was almost fine this morning. Except when we got here, I ran into the bathroom to throw up before putting on this dress. I thought I was going to pass out when we walked down the aisle, and standing there was like torture because I was terrified I was going to puke during your vows.”
My heart broke for Nan; I couldn’t imagine what she must have been going through in that moment.
As soon as you said you guys kissed, I knew I had to get out of there, so I ran down the aisle and tried to find a hiding spot outside somewhere. But your mother ended up following me because she saw me running. She held my hair back while I threw up in a bush, and it was the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Oh, Nan…” I said, stepping closer to her.
She swallowed, her throat working overtime.
“When I finally vomited everything out of my stomach, she went to get Eliza, and she examined me real quick. That’s when she brought up the possibility of being pregnant. At first, I didn’t want to entertain the thought and get my hopes up. I’ve been told by various doctors that I would never be able to have children. It was almost too good to be true if that were the case. But she told me that I should get to a drug store and pick up a pregnancy test anyway, just in case.”
“So, you did,” I breathed, shaking my head. “You and Chester went to the drug store.”
She nodded, leaning into Chester even more, and he tightened his hold around her.
“Yeah,” she breathed. “We went to get a pregnancy test. The drugstore didn’t have any public bathrooms, so we had to use the one here. We arrived a few minutes after you did, and your mother asked if we had the test. I told her yes and that we couldn’t take the test just yet. She showed us where the bathroom was, and

we’ve been here ever since.”
Finished
“And you found out that you’re pregnant…” I breathed again; this time it was less of a question and more of
amazement.
She nodded, ears nowt discuss flowing down her cheeks.
“We were just discussing what we were going to do now,” Nan explained. “I wanted to tell you… but it’s your wedding day, and I don’t want to take away from—”
Before she could finish her sentence, I threw my arms around her and pulled her closely into me. Tears were flowing down my cheeks before I could stop them. My best friend was expecting a baby. This was one of the best pieces of news I’ve had in a long time, and I couldn’t believe that I was getting to share the happiest day of my life with my best friend.
This had to have been the happiest day of her life, too… finding out that she was carrying a baby for herself. This is all she’s ever wanted besides becoming a well-known chef and owning her own 5-star restaurant. For as long as I’ve known her… Nan has always wanted to be a mother.
“I’m so happy for you,” I breathed.
“There you are,” I heard a voice behind me, and without looking, I already knew that it was Irene. “It’s time to cut the cake. Matt is about to wolf out otherwise. And.. oh my goddess… your makeup!”
Irene gasped as I turned to face her.
I couldn’t imagine how I must have looked to her in this moment. I knew I was a complete mess but honestly? I couldn’t care less. I was so beyond happy… my heart was full, and things couldn’t possibly be better for me, my friends, and my family.
“Seriously, Judy. You look like a mess, and we haven’t even done photos yet,” Irene whined as she approached us.
“Nan’s having a baby,” I announced before I could stop myself.
Irene stopped in her tracks and turned to Nan, a questioning look in her
“It’s true,” Nan said with a nervous laugh. “I’m having a baby.”
“Holy shit,” Irene gasped. “Congrats!”
eyes.
She rushed towards Nan and Chester and hugged them both, Then, Gavin appeared around the corner with Taylor and Eliza on his trail. Eliza was holding baby Emalyn, and Gavin was, of course, holding Ryder.
Nan smiled when she saw her little daughter and went straight for her, just as I went to Ryder.
“Why is everyone in the hallway? Matthew is getting impatient about that cake,” Gavin said, pressing his lips to the top of my head just as I kissed Rylder’s little forehead.
“We just found out that Nan is pregnant,” I told him, a genuine smile lighting up my face.
Gavin raised his brows and looked over at Nan, who was flushing from the sudden attention.
“That’s huge news. Congratulations,” Gavin said with a nod. “Now, can we get back to the real reason why we

are here?”
I laughed at that.
“You mean the cake?” I asked.
Finished
“Exactly,” he teased right back, giving me a wink as he wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me along with him.
I paused when I saw that Nan wasn’t following. She was staying back with Chester, and when I met her eyes, she gave me a small smile.
“I’ll be there in a minute,” she tells me. “I just need a minute with my mate.”
I nodded, understanding completely.
With that, we went back to our wedding and cut the cake, which I’m sure was Matt’s favorite part of the entire night.
For the rest of the evening, we danced, we laughed, and we had an overall amazing night.
“Congratulations!” Tabby said as she wrapped me in a huge hug. “I’m so happy for you. You are glowing and beautiful, even with all that makeup all over your face.”
I laughed.
“Yeah, Irene is still giving me hell over it,” I told her. “But it was well worth it.”
“How is Irene doing, by the way?” Shirley asked; I hadn’t realized she was standing there until that moment.
“She’s doing great,” I replied. “She bounced back pretty fast.”
I glance over to where Irene and Erik were; they were wrapped up in one another, dancing on the dance floor.
“I heard she found her mate. I’m glad that wasn’t just a rumor,” Shirley said, letting out a breath. “We had no idea Chuck was like that. We knew he was a siren, but I didn’t think he’d ever use his powers like that. It was dirty, and we don’t condone such behavior. I’m so sorry.”
“You don’t need to be the one to apologize,” I told her, giving her a small smile. “It wasn’t your fault that he turned out to be a dirtbag. I’m just glad there was no harm other than emotional. Irene is fine now, and she has her mate. His Alpha is dealing with Chuck. All is right in the world.”
