Chapter 649 Bride

Judy’s POV

I never imagined my wedding day would feel this calm.

Finished

Not peaceful exactly-my nerves were still there, fluttering in my stomach… but calm in the way a storm feels right before it breaks. Like everything had already been decided, and all that was left was for me to walk into it.

I wasn’t as hungover as I thought I would be this morning, and for that, I was grateful. I’m sure it had everything to do with that green concoction that Irene forced down my throat early this morning. She told me that it would make me feel better, and she was right; within the hour, I was out of bed and ready to take on the world… or at least this wedding.

It was going to be huge. There were 2 full packs attending this wedding, along with outsiders such as the Lycan chairmen and others from around the world, like Shirley and Tabby, who were my friends at the competition.

I still kept in touch with Tabby, but not as much as I would like. I wish she lived closer but I here she was promoted since Chuck lost his job.

Part of me worried that they would blame me for the Chuck thing but seeing that they came to my wedding made me feel all sorts of relieved.

Nan fussed with my veil for the third time while Irene worked on my makeup.

Selene and my mother were also in the room, watching with watery eyes and smiles on their faces.

Selene and I had a semi-talk this morning and we are planning on getting to know one another a lot better in the coming days. She hadn’t said much about Lila, but I knew it was still a touchy subject so I tried not to pry too much.

As for her other kids, my brothers, neither of them showed up to my wedding. Or so I’ve been told according to the guest list. Which I wasn’t surprised about, I wasn’t expecting them to show up.

What I really wasn’t expecting was the friendship that bloomed between my mom and Gavin’s mom. But I suppose grandchildren bring people together

“Nan, you are going to pull her hair out if you keep fussing with that veil,” Irene warned, bringing me out of my thoughts. She was frowning as the clips on the veil tugged at my hair. “Leave it alone.”

“It’s crooked, though; she can’t have a crooked veil when she walks down that aisle.”

“It’s not crooked; you’re just seeing things,” Irene said, rolling her eyes. “Trust me, it’s going to be fine. Even if it were crooked, my father wouldn’t care.”

“Yeah, but what about photos?” She argued back, her brows furrowed.

“We will fix it before the photos.”

“No, we will fix it now,” Nan said, pressing her lips firmly together.

“Ladies, let’s not argue about this,” my mother said, stepping forward. Then, she held her hand out for Nan. “May I?”

Nan sighed and handed my mother the part of the veil she was trying to fix.

“Suit yourself,” Nan said, stepping away.

My mother stepped closer to me, and I smiled up at her as she gently adjusted my veil.

“You look beautiful, Judy,” she whispered, tears filling her eyes before she could stop them. “I’m so happy for you.”

I couldn’t help but smile as I looked at the reflection in the nearby mirror. The dress was simple compared to what a Luna could have worn-ivory silk, long-sleeved, fitted but comfortable. Gavin had offered designers, jewelry, and anything I wanted. But I didn’t want to feel like a queen today.

I had Irene’s designer create a simple dress instead; something that showed the world exactly who I was as a person, and it was way more comfortable.

Irene stepped beside me, looking at me in the mirror as well.

“What’s wrong?” She asked, assessing my face in the mirror.

“Just thinking,” I told her, my heart beating rapidly against my ribcage.

“About running away?” She asked, smirking.

I smirked back.

“Maybe a few minutes ago I was,” I teased right back.

Nan gasped, and her eyes went wide.

“What??” She asked, shock evident on her face.

I let out a laugh.

“I’m joking, Nan. Of course, I’m not thinking about running away,” I assured her, making my mother and Selene chuckle. “I’m marrying my fated mate, and I couldn’t be happier.”

Nan let out a breath just as there was a knock on the door.

My mother went to open it, and on the other side, stood Erik with a bouquet of white flowers. I smiled at them; they were so gorgeous, my heart swelled.

He plucked one from the bouquet before he walked over to me, handing me the bunch of flowers.

“It’s almost time for us to head to the pack church,” he told me. “Gavin’s already on his way there.”

I nodded, knowing it was time for us to go.

Then, he turned towards Irene and bowed his head at her, offering her the single flower plucked. Her cheeks went crimson, and a smile lit up her face. She took the flower without hesitation and then his offered arm. He lifted his head, a smile gracing his lips as he tugged her closer, and together they started towards

the doorway.

“I need to make sure Chester is still on his way there with Ema,” Nan said as she pulled out her phone. “Want me to check on our father? I know he has Ryder, doesn’t he?”

“Yeah, actually, he’s with Zachary Blackwell too,” I told her, shaking my head at the image. I never really imagined my father hanging around Zachary Blackwell. Still, he was recently promoted to Beta, considering Alpha Sampson was in the market for one, and Gavin didn’t think there’d be anyone better other than my father. He was a title that my father gladly accepted, and I was really happy for him.

“Zachary is trying to branch out,” Selene said with a shrug. “And get to know the people who adopted his daughter.”

Selene hadn’t spoken much about Lila, and I hadn’t asked her, but the memory of Lila was fresh in our minds. She’s been away at an inpatient therapy facility, getting the help that she desperately needed, and I was glad for that. It meant she wasn’t going to be a problem for us anymore… at least not for a long time.

The ceremony was held in a church near the packhouse, where many great Alphas before Gavin had been blessed, including his father. I knew this place meant a lot to him, which was why we were deciding to get married here.

I wanted an outside wedding, so everything was prepped outside, behind the church in the large yard that connected to the packhouse.

White chairs lined the grass. Pack members filled them, their murmurs buzzing with curiosity and approval. Even Olivia was there with her friends, wearing gorgeous gowns, and their hair was done to perfection. They were looking around eagerly as well, almost like they were excited for what was about to happen.

It was something I was still getting used to.

“Are you ready?” Nan asked from beside me, her eyes fixed on the rows and rows of pack members. The aisle that we created was long enough to fit all the chairs on either side; one side held the Redmoon pack members, including Alpa Sampson and his mate. The other side had all the Silver Crescent pack members and a few extras, like the chairpersons.

I even spotted Tabby seated near Jeremy; Shirley was right beside her, both looking gorgeous.

When Tabby saw me, her smile grew, and I was relieved to know that she was still my friend. She gave me a quick wave, and I returned it without hesitation.

My father met me at the church entrance. I tried to stay hidden from Gavin’s view while we got ourselves coordinated. Ryder was lying in his arms, awake and smiling, as my father handed him to me.

“He better not spit up on your dress,” Nan murmured, folding her arms across her chest and making us laugh.

Chester was soon beside her as well with Emalyn in his arms. Immediately, Nan gushed at their little girl and kissed her chubby cheek, making the baby giggle, and the rest of us laugh as well.

“Come to grandma,” my mother said, taking Ryder from my arms and giving him a gentle kiss on the cheek, and then she turned to me. “I’m going to take my seat with this little one.”

“I’ll come with you,” Selene said, and then she turned and gave me a small smile. “I’ll see you soon?”
