The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1382

Kirsten pressed her lips into a thin line. She didn't answer him, didn't even give him a second glance, and turned toward the stairwell.

Gian watched her walk away. He reached out, wanting to call her back, but his throat seized up. No words came out.

His hand froze in midair, the light in his eyes slowly fading into an endless abyss of disappointment and helplessness.

Luna stood to the side, taking it all in. She smartly kept her mouth shut.

The chairman of Summit Tech tried to smooth things over with a laugh. "Mr. Atwood, this must be Ms. Delaney?"

"Her professional skills are top-notch. Both she and Miss Gaylord are rare talents. Our legal department really struck gold this time."

Gian managed a stiff, perfunctory smile, but his mind had already followed Kirsten down the stairs.

He couldn't understand it. He just wanted to help her find a decent job, to make her life a little easier. How did it end up like this?

Why did she always misunderstand him?

In the stairwell, Kirsten took the steps one by one. The cold concrete wall pressed against her palm, but it did nothing to cool the frustration and hurt burning in her chest.

She reached the ground floor and pushed open the heavy fire door.

Leaning against the wall, she covered her face with her hands, her shoulders trembling slightly.

She knew she might be acting extreme, maybe even overly sensitive. But Gian's actions made it impossible not to assume the worst.

He always did this—helping her in his own self-righteous way, never bothering to ask if she actually wanted or liked it.

From the fake marriage to the divorce, and now this job hunt, he was always pulling the strings. And she was just a puppet dancing to his tune.

What she wanted was never his charity or his orchestration. She wanted to be treated as an equal. She wanted respect.
