The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1383

After Kirsten sent the text, Gian didn't reply.

The cab pulled up to her apartment building.

Kirsten paid the fare and pushed the door open. The biting wind instantly slipped down her collar, making her shiver.

She pulled her blazer tighter around herself, but as she walked toward the entrance, she froze in her tracks.

Under the halo of the streetlamp stood a tall, broad-shouldered silhouette leaning against the brick wall. An unlit cigarette was pinned between his fingers, and a faint aura of loneliness clung to him.

It was Gian.

He looked like he'd been waiting for a long time. Hearing her footsteps, his head snapped up. His eyes locked onto hers, lighting up for a brief second before dimming again.

He was still in his suit, likely having driven straight over from Summit Tech without stopping home to change.

Kirsten's brow instantly furrowed, and her first instinct was to turn and walk away.

"Kirsten."

His voice stopped her.

It was hoarse, cutting clearly through the quiet night, and it pierced right through her.

She stood frozen, not turning around, not saying a word.

Gian took a slow step forward, stopping a few feet behind her. He didn't dare get too close, terrified of pushing her further away.

He stared at her rigid back, his chest tight with an unbearable ache.

"I know you don't want to see me, and I know you misunderstood. I just want to say a few words. Just a few."

Kirsten finally turned to look at him.

The streetlamp cast a glow over his face, highlighting the bloodshot veins in his eyes and the deep exhaustion etched into his features. Clearly, he hadn't been doing well lately either.
