The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 618

Danielle didn’t even break her stride. With the file clutched in her hand, she walked out the door without a backward glance.

She had no desire to speculate about the relationship between those two. But honestly, a woman waiting alone in a man’s house while he was away—what more needed saying?

Besides, Alexander seemed far more attentive to this woman.

That was new.

He’d never acted that way with Millie. He’d always appeared helpful, but there’d been a constant chill between them, a polite distance that never thawed.

But with this one, it was different.

Danielle hailed a cab right outside the door, glancing down at her phone to check the ride app.

“I’ll walk you out.” A cool, deep voice came from behind her.

She turned to find Alexander’s dark eyes fixed on her. One hand in his pocket, he looked down at her from the steps. “You know, this is a gated neighborhood. It’s not easy to get a cab here.”

“If you’re so concerned, why didn’t you just deliver the file to my brother yourself?” Danielle shot back, not bothering to hide her irritation.

He shrugged. “He asked you to bring it, didn’t he? You always do exactly as he says. Who am I to argue?”

Danielle just stared at him. What was wrong with this man?

And honestly, it was almost impressive that the woman inside had the composure to let him escort his ex-wife out, instead of creating a scene like Millie would have.

If she could be that gracious, Danielle certainly wasn’t about to cause trouble.

She raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you worried she’ll get jealous?”

Alexander smirked. “Should I be worried about you? She just said it’s not safe for a woman to be out here alone, and asked me to walk you out.”

“You really do follow orders well, don’t you?” Danielle glanced at her phone—the driver had already accepted her request.

She flashed her phone. “No need, Mr. Davidson. It’s broad daylight. I’ll be fine.”

He looked at her, a shadow passing over his face. “Do you really hate being around me that much? You can’t even stand a few extra minutes together?”

She met his gaze. “I honestly have no idea what goes on in your head. Only a lunatic wants to hang out with their ex. Only an idiot would try to keep getting tangled up.”
