Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 362

She knew none of this would mean anything until she saw how Julian felt about it. His reaction was the only thing that really mattered.

“Alright, Helene, it’s all set now,” her mother said, smiling softly. “Your only job is to rest up and recover. Forget about everything else. Just get ready to be a beautiful bride.”

Helene smiled a little, but worry lingered in her eyes. “I know, but what if Julian doesn’t want to go through with it…”

“Don’t be silly. You and Julian grew up together. I don’t think he doesn’t care about you at all.”

Helene thought about it for a moment, and it actually made her feel better. Julian had just lost his temper that day. Once he cooled off, and with Grandpa supporting the idea, this engagement was practically a done deal.

She was really going to be Mrs. Grayson.

Helene took a deep breath, feeling lighter, like she could finally breathe again. “Mom, help me into my wheelchair.”

“Where do you want to go?”

“With news this good, I have to let her know,” Helene replied, her voice full of purpose.

Courtney caught on right away, grinning. “That’s true. She’s had her fun long enough. Now it’s our turn.”

She pushed Helene down the hallway toward Noah’s hospital room, but the bodyguards outside wouldn’t let them in.

Inside, Madeline was quietly feeding Noah some soup when she heard the noise at the door. She frowned, already knowing who it was just by the grating sound of their voices.

She didn’t rush. She just kept feeding Noah, calm as ever.

Noah glanced at the door, concern in his eyes. “Mommy…”

“Don’t worry about them,” Madeline said softly.

Once Noah finished his soup, Madeline finally stepped outside. Courtney and Helene were still there, stubborn as ever. The bodyguards wouldn’t let them in, but they weren’t leaving either.
