Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 373

Madeline turned her head, gazing out the window with a quiet sigh. “Why wouldn’t I want a life that’s calm and comfortable?”

The car sped down the road. Julian rolled down his window, letting a rush of icy air whip through the interior.

Madeline couldn’t help but shiver as the cold hit her.

Julian glanced at her, his lips pulling into a slight smirk. “You could just say you want to get away from me.”

A soft chuckle slipped from Madeline.

He was right. She did need to stay away from him. Ever since she married him, she hadn’t had a single peaceful day. At home, he kept his distance, and outside, Helene did everything she could to make her life miserable.

She’d loved him too much back then. She put up with everything, forgetting that loving yourself had to come first.

So she had to leave. And not just leave. She wanted Julian to regret everything he’d ever done.

Madeline took a steady breath, forcing her feelings down. “Julian,” she said, voice calm, “I should’ve realized it sooner. The moment I knew you’d never love me, I should’ve divorced you.”

She sounded so composed, but her words hit Julian hard.

So she’d be better off without him. So she should have left a long time ago.

The car kept picking up speed. Madeline felt dizzy, her stomach churning. She pressed a hand to her chest and turned to glance at Julian.

He noticed, catching her discomfort from the corner of his eye. He knew she couldn’t handle going this fast. His hands tightened on the steering wheel, struggling to keep his anger in check. Gradually, he slowed the car.

Unbelievable.

Julian looked out the window, frustration simmering inside him.

How had things gotten to this point? The girl who once loved him so much was now doing everything she could to get away from him.

And him?
