Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 604

Madeline knew she wouldn't change his mind, so she dropped the subject.

The drive wasn't long. Before she knew it, they were parked in front of a quiet villa, tucked away from the noise of the city.

“We’re here. Come check out our new place.”

New place. The words sent a flutter through Madeline's chest, and she couldn't help glancing at Julian.

Just hearing the word “home” was enough to set off waves inside her.

Noah and Oliver had already arrived ahead of them. The kids were racing inside, their laughter echoing off the driveway. Kids, always curious and full of energy wherever something was new.

As Madeline stepped out, the first thing she saw was a small, beautiful garden circling a fountain, with a statue of two angels holding each other in the center. Warm sunlight spilled over everything, making the flowers glow, the whole scene alive and inviting. It really was beautiful.

“Do you like it?” Julian asked quietly.

Madeline looked at him, trying to hide her smile. “It's gorgeous.”

Miles came over, sounding proud. “Ms. Monroe, Mr. Grayson started getting this villa ready the last time he took you to the Grayson estate. He's been waiting to bring you here.”

Madeline blinked. “You already had moving out on your mind back then?”

Julian nodded. “Come on in. Let's see the rest.”

Noah and Oliver came running back out, grabbing for Madeline's hands.

“Mom, come look inside! It's so pretty, you'll love it. It's totally your style,” Oliver said, bouncing.

She laughed, squeezing their little hands. “Slow down, you two. You’ll trip if you keep running like that.”

As she walked through the house, every detail screamed home to Madeline. The colors were all warm and soft, the furniture inviting. Whoever decorated had definitely put their heart into it.

As they finished the tour, Madeline noticed Julian watching her. He looked anxious, like he was waiting for some kind of final verdict.

“So?” he asked. “Do you like it?”

Madeline waited, but it felt like there was more he wasn’t saying.

The truth was, he’d been poisoned by that cruel woman, but right now, Luke had no intention of telling her that.

He looked away. “Honestly, you can stop asking. Maybe I got hurt a long time ago and just don’t remember. I mean, I even forgot my real name, you know?”

She searched his face, trying to read him. Was he hiding something or just tired of the questions?

With a soft sigh, Madeline decided not to push. “When you’re ready, I hope you’ll tell me.”

She tried to smile. “Come on, dinner’s ready. I set up a room for you, so just stay here for now.”

Luke’s mouth lifted in a faint smile. “Thanks. I will.”

As he walked back inside, Madeline watched him go, worry nagging at her heart.
