Once it was done, she looked up. “Satisfied now?”

Christian gave a small nod, signaling for them to proceed with Julian.

They barely had the needle in Julian’s arm, the liquid only halfway in, when his eyes snapped open. He reacted instantly, shoving the attendant away, instincts on high alert.

“Julian?” George gasped. “Christian, he’s awake!”

Christian rushed over, staring into Julian’s eyes. For a moment, he didn’t move, barely breathing. “Julian… you can see me?”

Julian looked at his hand, then snapped his head up, his gaze razor-sharp. “Did you stop the surgery?”

Christian’s expression broke into a rare, relieved smile. “Thank God. You can see.”
