When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 390

Carmen’s cheeks turned a fierce shade of red. “How exactly did he clean me up?”

“He, you know, changed your clothes and wiped you down.”

So Pearson decided to act all shameless just because she was sick. Any gratitude she’d started to feel disappeared in a heartbeat.

Pearson had no clue he’d been sold out when he walked back in.

Carmen waved the caregiver away and fixed her eyes on Pearson. “Did you really give me a sponge bath yesterday?”

Pearson replied, calm as ever, “Yeah. I did.”

He said it like it was the most ordinary thing in the world.

“Who said you could touch me?”

“Carmen, I’m your husband.”

That one sentence made her choke on her retort. She stared him down, struggling for words, then finally muttered, “But we’re basically strangers.”

Pearson’s eyes glinted. He reached out, tilted her chin up, and kissed her—just like that.

It caught her so off guard that her mind went blank. She didn’t even remember to push him away. She’d watched a million on-screen kisses, but this was her first real one.

“Mmph…”

She smacked his shoulder, but his hands were firm, pinning her wrists gently, guiding her when she forgot how to breathe.

It was a deep, lingering kiss, soft and sweet. When he finally let go, Pearson’s thumb brushed across her lips, his eyes full of mischief.

“So, feel like you know me a little better now?”

Carmen’s faces and neck were beet red, all the way down. She barely had a chance to catch her breath before the door opened and the doctor walked in, scattering the sparks in the air.

“She’s fine, mostly needs rest. Just don’t let her catch cold. She can go home tomorrow,” the doctor said.
