Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 102

Finn never expected Kent to agree so readily.

By the time Finn and Silvia arrived home, Kent’s car was already pulling up to the curb outside their house.

Kent stepped out, carrying a gift box in one hand. He looked impeccable—tall, charming, with the sort of effortless confidence and good looks that made people stop and stare.

Just as Kent opened his mouth to speak, Silvia’s phone began to ring.

She glanced at the screen, saw it was a call from downtown Luminova, and immediately declined it.

Until she officially took over the Luminova City project, she had no intention of answering their calls.

“Silvia, why’d you hang up?” Finn noticed the strange look in her eyes and couldn’t help but ask.

At his question, something in Silvia’s gaze hardened for a moment. Quickly, she composed herself and offered Finn a reassuring smile.

“Just another spam call,” she said, her tone casual.

Finn accepted the explanation, but Kent saw right through it.

He knew exactly who was on the other end of that call: Shipley.

Seeing Silvia’s cold indifference, Kent felt a quiet, satisfied pleasure settle in his chest.

Meanwhile, across town in Luminova City—

Shipley stared at his phone, the call cut short. The charming glint in his eyes faded to something much colder. He glanced at the desk, where several of his employees’ phones lay lined up, and a sly smile crept onto his lips.

If she won’t answer a call from me, she’ll have to pick up eventually, he thought. One by one, he started dialing Silvia’s number from each phone, determined to get through.

Finally—after who knows how many attempts—she answered.

As the thought settled, the surge of anxiety and dread that had threatened to overwhelm Shipley vanished.

In its place was a bold, self-assured smile.

He leaned back and whispered, as if Silvia could hear him through the phone, “Sweet Silvia, these little games of yours? Your big brother knows them all.”

She might not want to come back now, but sooner or later, she’d return.

And when she did, he’d make sure she paid for all of this.

For now, there was a new project on his desk that demanded his attention. If he could land this investor, it would help balance out his company’s recent losses.

Then, when Silvia saw what he was capable of—she’d realize that he was every bit Kent’s equal.
